MATCH DAY

Lady Jacket Volleyball BlogSeptember 22, 2015

Hey volleyball lovers! To start out on a fun note, I want to tell you alittle bit about our pick-a-date we had this past weekend! For those ofyou who don!t know what a pick-a-date is, it!s a type of group datewhere, on our team, we upperclassmen with boyfriends setup ourteammates with dates. [However we did accept suggestions as to whothe girls wanted ;) ] We carved pumpkins, played games, and endedthe night with a bonfire. I think we would all say that it was a ton of fun! This is one of the many ways we bond as a team outside of the gym.

Volleyball this week was a little more complex than planning a pick-a-date. We played at Malone on Tuesday and, as a team, we had anoff night. In that match, our team was a little deeper and more skilled, meaning we should have won. However, a slew of unforced errors keptus from pulling it out. We came away with an L and whole lot of frus-tration. In practice the next day coach scratched the lineup and wemade a few significant changes. We changed our court structure to a5-1 with Kristin Cardwell being the only setter. We also put Tay TayWilkerson in the other middle spot when she had been the other rightside hitter. The next two practices consisted of working out the kinks inour new lineup.

Friday night we entered the gym ready to play Charleston with noth-ing to lose. The crowd started to file in and we actually ran out of seats(hopefully they pull out the other set of bleachers for the next match)which brought some extra energy to our team. We completed thethree-set sweep in fluid fashion. We were, for the first time in a while, truly playing like a team. I'm also going to add that Krissy Pratt put ona show with her top spin serve. She racked up 11 kills and 7 aceswhich are great numbers!

We host Urbana Tuesday night leading up to White-Out Night onFriday! Hopefully we can continue this level of play this week and con-

tinue to grow together as a team. More than that, it!s imperative weremember that we seek to glorify God in all that we do on and off thecourt.

Have a blessed week!
