2 MESSAGE FROM THE president / ceoDear Stockholders and Employee-Owners,

This Annual Report is dedicated to all of you and presents all of the great things that you accomplished in 2014. Some of the highlights include being named one of the country’s Top 25 Best Architectural and Engineering Firms to Work For by Zweig Group; numerous project awards from distinguished engineering organizations such as the American Council of Engineering Companies, American Public Works Association, Engineering News Record, and the American Society of Civil Engineers as well as clients such as the Montana Department of Transportation and the Utah Department of Transportation; and increasing our community involvement activities and giving more back to the places we work and play.

However, I would like to focus more on all of you as individuals and how you have joined together and formed a shared vision for this company that makes it a truly unique place to work and gives something meaningful back to the world in which we live. I believe this company is comprised of people who do want to make a difference. That is probably why most of us became engineers, surveyors, planners, and scientists in the first place. We all happen to like solving technical problems, but we also like coming up with solutions that make our communities a better place.

In 2013, this company of 250 individuals joined together as one to produce a document that summarized our mission and vision for the future of our company. What first struck me after this document was produced was how we somehow got all of your

thoughts and hopes into a four page summary! After more reflection though, what really made an impact on me was how each of you reaffirmed how important it is that we be more than a bunch of technical people that make a living at Morrison-Maierle.

Our vision for this company really came down to a desire to always do the right thing for each other, our clients, and our communities. Of course this means doing great work and meeting or exceeding our clients’ expectations. But it meant so much more to all of you that we are known as much for our core values as we are for our technical work. It meant so much to all of you that we give our time and monetary donations back to the communities where we live, work and play. And, it meant so much to all of you that we do all of this together as one team that helps each other succeed in everything we do.

Please join me in celebrating all we accomplished together in 2014. It is really a testament to all of you and how you all make this company what it is, and what we will become in the future. I sincerely thank each of you for everything you give to Morrison-Maierle every day.

Sincerely,mes

sage

our difference is our people“Our company is truly only as good as our people. fortunately, we have really outstanding people.”

We often comment on this fact, but we

still need to periodically remind ourselves

that Morrison-Maierle is a company

comprised of “people” and that our

people are what makes our company

the great place it is today. We don’t sell

any type of commodity—we sell our

ideas, our expertise and experience, our

innovativeness, our attention to detail,

our client service, and our core values

of integrity, commitment, respect, and

excellence.

4 our firmMorrison-Maierle was recently named as one of the “Best Firms To Work For” by professional services industry leader, Zweig Group.

This award measures business success in the architecture, engineering, and environmental consulting industries throughout the U.S. and Canada. In 2014, Morrison-Maierle placed 11th in the multi-discipline category and 55th overall

in the Top 100 listing of firms that include architecture, civil engineering, multi-discipline engineering, and structural engineering.

Zweig Group’s “Best Firms to Work For” recognizes the top firms that are creating work places that inspire, motivate, and reward their employees both professionally and personally. Last year’s selection process included the evaluation and compilation of corporate-level and employee-level surveys. Areas of focus were culture, recruiting and retention, performance management and recognition, compensation, benefits, and professional development.

This is the second time Morrison-Maierle has been named to the Top 100 list. It was previously recognized in 2008. Zweig Group’s “Best Firms to Work For” list began in 2001.

“We are honored to have been named to this prestigious list. We owe a great deal of thanks to our employee-owners for not only the work they do, but the support they give each other, and the time they took to complete the Zweig Group survey.”Morrison-Maierle’s Chief Human Resources and Staff Services Officer, Letha Ebelt, PHR.

OUR TEAM

Bozeman: Nearly all of the Bozeman Office’s employees rallied around “Can the Griz,” an event to help stock the Gallatin County Food Bank during the week before the Cat-Griz football game. The Bozeman Office also participated in the 2014 Toys-For-Tots effort.

Missoula: Several Missoula Office employees participated in two different office events to help support the Missoula community. Day of Action volunteers rolled their sleeves up to help this effort that supports the Missoula-Area United Way. Meanwhile, others participated in CANdemonium, a benefit for the Missoula Food Bank. Their CAN sculpture also won first place.

Helena: For several years in row now, the Helena Office has participated in the Spirit of Service (SOS), a full-day event that helps Helena residents with yard work, painting, small construction projects, and other home-improvement tasks.

The Helena Office also lent a hand to four area families at Christmastime with the Salvation Army’s Adopt-A-Family program and a food drive for Helena Food Share. In the fall, they rounded up school supplies for public and private elementary school students and in the spring they ran an aid station along the Governor’s Cup marathon course.

Kalispell: The Kalispell Office opened their hearts and wallets for the 2014 Kalispell Area Toys-For-Tots and Intermountain Youth Home gift drive.

Billings: Billings Office employees had a great time assembling boxes for Tumbleweed’s “Christmas Shoebox Project” that provided hygiene items to the homeless youth. Each person brought needed items to fill shoeboxes for each child in need of these items.

12 Our visionThe following four groups lined out strategies to help Morrison-Maierle achieve its goal of becoming an extraordinary place to work and the preeminent engineering firm in the West by 2020.

The ESOP Work Group developed an outline for an education program that highlights and emphasizes Morrison-Maierle’s employee-owner culture. Several videos that were created in 2014 will be rolled out in early 2015 along with new, exciting materials for the annual meeting.

The Recognition Work Group constructed a program to recognize employee-owners who embody the company’s Core Values and ownership mentality. The program was approved by the Senior Management Team and rollout of the program will occur in early 2015.

The Interview Work Group focused on developing an interview process that clearly identifies prospective employee-owners’ core values. Implementation of this process is well underway.

The Community Service Work Group developed the blueprint for implementing best practices for community involvement activities. Tools for gathering information from prospective organizations will be available in 2015. In 2014 we saw a 12% increase in employee-owner volunteer efforts!

16 Our boardNew Members:

JON CARLSON comes to Morrison-Maierle as its first non-employee to serve on the Board. As Chief Executive Officer of Braun Intertec Corporation—a Minneapolis-based ESOP firm specializing in geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting, geothermal consulting, building envelope consulting, and materials and analytical testing services—Jon brings a wealth of knowledge in leadership and strategic business planning. It is these skills that are particularly of interest to us as we move toward our Vision 2020.

DEBBIE JOHNSTON joined Jon as a new board member. As a 12-year employee-owner of Morrison-Maierle, Debbie transitioned from Missoula Office Manager into the role of Mining Market Group Leader. This is her second time on the Board. She previously served from June 2011 to June 2013.

Even during my relatively short tenure with the Board, we have tackled, or at least begun to address, several very important issues that will have very positive and lasting impacts on the future of Morrison-Maierle. turned in a new direction in 2014. In order

to introduce outside perspectives that

will bring new insight, the board decided

to nominate a new member who is not

an employee-owner. This is a new step

for Morrison-Maierle, and one that

Chairman Jack Schunke believes will bring

vision and insight as the company creates

new business opportunities.
