In His Love,
FOLLOWING THE LORD INTO 2010
Everything we hear, read, and see suggests that it will be more and more difficult
for believers to live out their faith in our society in the years ahead. That should be
no surprise. Paul said, “But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will
come.” (2 Timothy 3:1 NAS)
While we should be depending on the Lord for everything in life, it is often in the
midst of difficulty that we turn to the Lord for help. Well, God is going to allow it
to become so difficult that we are all going to have to turn to Him, trust Him, and
follow Him. Praise the Lord!
On Sunday mornings, we have been exploring “The Best Thing to Do with the Rest of Your Life.” Our
conclusion is that the best thing believers can do is to follow the Lord. Our Lord gave us a great
example and even clear instructions on what happens when we are following Him. We have seen that
where we are following Him, we will be denying self, taking up a cross and humbly serving Him and
willingly sharing Him and His Word. Jesus said that He came not to be served, but to serve and give His
life a ransom for many. It makes sense that those who follow Him will serve Him. Jesus said that He
came to seek and to save the lost. That must mean that those who follow Him will become more and
more aware of opportunities to share Him with others. Will you join me in praying that we, His church
body, will so follow Him in 2010. The vast majority of us will humbly serve Him in our homes,
neighborhoods, work places, and school houses, and as we do, we will have opportunity after opportunity
to share Him with others.
To help accomplish this, we are going to stress that every member has a growing personal love
relationship with the Lord, grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord, be equipped for the work of
building up the body of Christ, and worship Him in Spirit and truth, not just on Sundays, but as a way of
life. We will be offering opportunities in 2010 for all of our members to serve Him and to share Him.
They will include following Jesus in things like:
T.E.A.M.S. Sunday School Ministry, UPWARD Sports Program, Whiz Kids Tutoring,
“Your Bill Has Been Paid,” Pre-School/Children’s and Student Ministries, Adult Ministries, Service
Saturdays at Matt. 25, Missions and Outreach opportunities locally, across our state and nation, and
around our world.
Let’s pray that we will all follow the Lord in 2010, and as we do that we will humbly serve Him and share
Him however, wherever, and whenever He lead us.
Grateful to be your Pastor,

From The Worship Ministry:
We are so thankful to all those who helped make our Christmas Musical
“A Christmas Invitation” such a blessing. Special thanks goes to Don Bell and
all the men who helped construct our sets, Penny Bailey and the drama cast, and
Chuck Tipton and the media crew. Certainly, we also thank our wonderful His
Voices Choir for their hard work in preparing some very difficult music and their
faithfulness in sharing it with our church and community.
Choir Rehearsals will resume on Wednesday, January 6, and we’ll be
starting some wonderful new music for the New Year. New members are
encouraged to join us then. We’re excited about plans for worship and ministry
in 2010.
