    Russia celebrated National Unity Day on Tuesday, whichinvolved nationalist parades and rallies throughout thecountry. However, in Moscow this year, the parades drewonly a few thousand participants, rather than the anticipated10,000. Many noted that the rally was split betweennationalists who support the Kremlins policy towards

    Ukraine, and those who do not. National Unity Daycommemorates the battle in 1612 that expelled the Polish

    army from Moscow.

    According to reports in Western media, Iran has tentativelyagreed to send a significant portion of its uranium stockpileto Russia to be turned into specialized fuel rods for theBushehr reactor. This agreement would ensure that Irancannot use the uranium to manufacture nuclear weapons andwould alleviate Western concerns about Irans stockpile of

    enriched uranium. Marziyeh Afkham, spokeswoman for theIranian Foreign Ministry, dismissed these reports aspolitically motivated speculation.

    On Wednesday, the Tajik Embassy in Cairo reported thatfour Tajik nationals who were detained in Egypt inSeptember have now been charged with having links to theIslamic State. The men were arrested on September 19 nearthe Giza pyramids for allegedly recruiting fighters for theIslamic State but deny any wrongdoing. The Tajikgovernment estimates that around 200 Tajik citizens have

    joined militant groups fighting in Syria and Iraq.

    Polandsnatural gas company, PGNiG, has initiated talks withGazprom to cut gas prices under a long-term supply contract.The contract would provide for the delivery of up to 10.2billion cubic meters of gas to Poland annually. PGNiG releaseda statement claiming that significant changes on the Europeanenergy market necessitated the renegotiation of the gas prices.

    The company reported that it may seek court arbitration if it isnot able to reach an agreement with Gazprom within sixmonths.

    Estonia is the third state to ban Russian actor IvanOkhlobystin from entering the country.     At a forum held between the transportation ministers ofMacedonia, Bulgaria, and Albania, MacedonianTransportation Minister Mile Yanakieski announced that heexpected the Bulgaria-Macedonia rail line to startfunctioning in 2022. The railway will be built in threestages. The first stage, from Kumanovo to Beljakovce, isalready underway.
