The Ex estates consisted approximately 1.0 m kg and met with less demand. The overall quality was similar to last week levels. Best western BOP/BOPFs maintained last week levels. Below best western BOP/BOPFs declined Rs. 20-30 per kg. Nuwara –Eliya BOP/BOPFs sold firm to dearer. Uvas / Udupussellawa BOP/BOPFs declined Rs. 10-20 per kg. CTC High grown BP1 declined Rs. 30 per kg whilst medium grown BP1s sold irregularly lower. Low grown BP1s gained Rs. 20-30 per kg. High grown PF1s better sorts declined Rs. 20-30 per kg whilst medium grown PF1s was lower by a similar margin. Low grown PF1s declined Rs. 10-20 per kg. Medium Grown Orthodox were firm whilst liquoring FBOPs were marginally dearer. Low grown consisted approximately 2.6 m kg in the leafy and tippy catalogues and met with good demand. Select best OP1s sold Rs. 50 per kg dearer whilst the below best sold Rs. 20-30 per dearer. Select best OP/OPAs sold dearer by Rs. 10 per kg whilst below best OP/OPAs sold firm on last. Below best BOP1s sold dearer whilst the others declined all-around. PEK1s gained Rs. 10-20 per kg dearer whilst bold PEKs gained by Rs. 10 per kg. CROP AND WEATHER- (For the period 06 th – 12 th March 2018) Westerns, Udapussellawas and Nuwara Eliyas experienced bright mornings with evening showers throughout the week. Uva experienced wet weather throughout the week. Low growns, both Ruhuna and Sabaragamuwa reported bright mornings with evening showers. This week a total quantity of approximately 6.2 m kg was offered at the auction. The Ex estates consisted approximately 1.0 m kg and met with less demand. The overall quality was similar to last week levels. Best western BOP/BOPFs maintained last week levels. Below best western BOP/BOPFs declined Rs. 20-30 per kg.

Nuwara –Eliya BOP/BOPFs sold firm to dearer. Uvas / Udupussellawa BOP/BOPFs declined Rs. 10-20 per kg.

CTC High grown BP1 declined Rs. 30 per kg whilst medium grown BP1s sold irregularly lower. Low grown BP1s gained Rs. 20-30 per kg. High grown PF1s better sorts declined Rs. 20-30 per kg whilst medium grown PF1s was lower by a similar margin. Low grown PF1s declined Rs. 10-20 per kg. Medium Grown Orthodox were firm whilst liquoring FBOPs were marginally dearer. Low grown consisted approximately 2.6 m kg in the leafy and tippy catalogues and met with good demand. Select best

OP1s sold Rs. 50 per kg dearer whilst the below best sold Rs. 20-30 per dearer. Select best OP/OPAs sold dearer by Rs. 10

per kg whilst below best OP/OPAs sold firm on last. Below best BOP1s sold dearer whilst the others declined all-around.

PEK1s gained Rs. 10-20 per kg dearer whilst bold PEKs gained by Rs. 10 per kg.

In the small leaf/ tippy catalogue, select best FBOPs were lower except for few select invoices. Below best and best were

firm on last. Others and poorer sorts were lower by Rs. 10-20 per kg. Well-made FBOPF1s shed Rs. 10-20 per kg and others

by Rs. 20-30 per kg whilst overall FBOPF1 market were easier by Rs. 10-20 per kg. FBOPF market showed an improvement.

Premium market showed a very lower demand.

This week’s Mombasa auction met with less demand & the unsold quantity was 11.72 % Global Brent Crude oil price recorded to $ 64.62 per barrel. CROP AND WEATHER- (For the period 06th – 12th March 2018)

Westerns, Udapussellawas and Nuwara Eliyas experienced bright mornings with evening showers throughout the week.

LOW GROWN

BOP1 A range of best and below best BOP1s were firm to dearer. Others and the teas at the lower end

were easier.

OP1 A few select best teas together with a range of clean/improved below best were firm to selectively

dearer. All others were irregular and lower. At the lower end prices were generally firm.

OP High priced OP's were barely steady. Others and a selection of better OP's were fully firm to

marginally dearer. Balance were easier following quality. At the lower end prices were fully firm

to dearer.

OPA A range of select best together with improved below best were firm to marginally dearer. Balance

were irregular and lower. At the lower end prices were fully firm to dearer.

PEKOE / PEKOE1 PEK1's were fully firm to dearer at times by Rs. 10-20/-. A selection of well-made PEK's together

with the bolder types too were firm to dearer whilst others were barely steady.

FBOP /FBOP1 Select best and best FBOPs appreciated. Cleaner below best sorts too gained. Others and teas at

the bottom were irregular.

BOP Select best and best BOP's were firm. Cleaner below best sorts were firm to dearer. Others and

teas at the bottom were irregularly lower.

BOPF A few select best were firm to dearer. Best maintained. Cleaner below best sorts were dearer.

Others were irregular and mostly lower.

FBOPF/FBOPF1 Tippy teas particularly the leafier sorts appreciated whilst the smaller varieties were discounted.

JAKARTA AUCTION SALE OF 14TH MARCH 2018

There was good interest at irregular rates for the 14,420, following quality.

JAVA ORTHODOX TEA - BOPF was advanced by 4-7 cts above last week levels. PF/Dust/BT were held fully firm when sold. Secondary

grades appreciated by 2-3 cts when sold

JAVA CTC TEA - BP1/PD/Dust/Fann/D2 were sold firm to 3 cts dearer. PF1 better/best lots strengthened by 10-22 cts when sold

whereas good medium lots maintained last week.

SUMATRA ORTHODOX TEA - BOP/BOPF/PF/BT were discounted by 2-4 cts when sold. Dust/BP gained by 3-4 cts above last week sale.

Secondary grades were sold firm to 3 cts dearer.

BANGLADESH AUCTION SALE 13TH MARCH 2018

CTC LEAF: 4,442 packages of Current Season, 112 packages of Old Season on offer once again met with a strong demand.

BROKENS/FANNINGS: There were only a few clean teas on offer which were strongly competed for and generally sold at dearer rates.

Other varieties which comprised mostly of end of season types met with a stronger demand and generally sold at firm to dearer rates.

Poorest varieties also followed a similar trend with nominal withdrawals.

CTC LEAF NEW SEASON (2018/2019): 1179 packages of New Season Teas on offer met with a strong demand and realised prices

between Tk.240/- and Tk.320/-.

CTC DUST: 2,030 packages of Current Season and 22 packages of Old Season met with a good demand. There were only a few good

liquoring Dusts on offer which met with good competition and sold at around last levels. RDs and CDs mostly saw an irregular interest

and were easier by Tk.3/- to Tk.5/-. Blenders were less active whilst Loose tea buyers lent a fairly good support.

CTC DUST NEW SEASON (2018/2019): 168 packages of New Season Teas met with a strong competition and sold between Tk.330/-

and Tk.353/-.

COMMENTS: This was the final sale of the season which went off very well with practically all teas being sold and prices realised were

also generally higher than last week. Loose tea buyers dominated the sale. Dusts sold well.

MOMBASA AUCTION SALE OF 12TH / 13TH MACRH 2018

Less demand for the 126,273 packages (8,207,498 kilos) available at irregularly easier levels following quality with 11.72% neglected.

The best BP1s in the market were a weak feature and shed up to USC56 with brighter descriptions irregular varying between USC10 to USC14 dearer

to easier by USC5 to USC16 while medium categories ranged between USC2 to USC5 above last rates to easier by USC7 to USC20. Lower mediums

were irregular and varied between firm to USC11 dearer to easier by USC4 to USC12 while clean plainer descriptions were steady with others

discounted by up to USC20. Best PF1s on offer were a weak feature easing by up to USC50 while brighter varieties were discounted by USC10 to

USC22 with medium types barely firm to USC28 below last week's levels; lower mediums saw price declines of between USC4 to USC35 with some

lines neglected. Plainer sorts lost USC5 to USC14 with some teas remaining unsold.

The best PDUSTs available met good competition gaining up to USC12 while brighter categories shed USC3 to USC20 with medium types barely firm

to USC26 below last prices; lower mediums met less interest and shed up to USC22 with plainer varieties declining by up to USC20. Best DUST1s on

offer eased by USC16 while brighter categories were steady to USC28 below last rates with medium varieties about firm to USC20 easier; lower

medium sorts eased by USC20 to USC24 with plainer descriptions discounted by up to USC10 but a few improved invoices held firm to USC2 dearer

following quality. In the Secondary Catalogues BPs eased while PFs were irregularly steady. Clean well sorted coloury Fannings were dearer while

similar DUSTs were firm. Other Fannings held value with similar DUSTs easing. BMFs were readily absorbed.

Pakistan Packers showed strong and more support while Yemen and other Middle Eastern countries lent more useful interest. Kazakhstan and other

CIS nations maintained useful but select enquiries. Egyptian Packers, Afghanistan, Russia, UK, Bazaar and Sudan were active but more selective at

lower levels. Iran were subdued. Somalia was less active at the lower end of the market.
