CFA PROGRAM CURRICULUM*

The CFA Program curriculum is designed to deliver the comprehensive

knowledge and practical skills most needed by those working in the

investment profession through a practice-analysis process that leverages

the broad expertise and specialized knowledge and input of our global

membership, panels of industry experts, and employers.

Each of the three levels covers a full range of topics but with a different

focus. The topic focus for Level I is on investment tools. Level II is onasset valuation and Level III is on portfolio management. The learning

focus also changes with each exam, from knowledge and comprehension

(Level I) to application and analysis (Level II) and to synthesis and

evaluation (Level III). The curriculum is organized into 10 general topic

areas that provide a framework for making investment decisions:

Membership

Membership in CFA Society Toronto is available to charterholders, industry

professionals and CFA Program candidates. Individuals qualify based on a

combination of factors such as work experience and/or passing of the CFA

exams. The membership committee meets regularly to review pending

applications and make recommendations to the board for final approval.

Membership types include: regular, affiliate, and associate. Regular

and affiliate members are also members of CFA Institute; associatemembers are members only of CFA Society Toronto.

AWARDS AND SCHOLARSHIPS

Access Scholarships

A needs-based scholarship provided by CFA Institute, which reduces the

enrollment and exam registration fees.

CFA Institute Research Challenge

Deadline for team submission 30 September

This equity research competition features student teams from the worldstop university business and finance programs. Students write an equity

research report on a publicly traded company and present their findings

to an expert panel. There are three levels of competition: local, regional

and global. A $1,000 (CAD) cash prize is awarded to each student on the

local level championship team.

Fellowship Award

Deadline for submission 30 November

One award of $10,000 (CAD) is given to a select doctoral dissertation in

the fields of finance or economics.

Toronto CFA Society & Hillsdale Canadian Investment Research Award

- Deadline for submission 30 November

One award of $10,000 (CAD) is granted to an outstanding global academic

candidate or practitioner conducting research on Canadian capital markets.

Undergraduate Award

Deadline for submission 31 March

Up to four scholarship awards of $2,500 (CAD) each are given to select

candidates who are in their third year of finance and economic study

and have a minimum 3.0 GPA (or equivalent) in their program.
