At the end of April 2016, the Warman
Chamber of Commerce sent a survey
out to you, our members, requesting
feedback on the proposed home
based business zoning bylaw changes

nity. Thank you for your feedback.
60% of respondents did not support
the proposed changes with 40% of
respondents in favor. The Warman
Chamber of Commerce presented this
information to the City of Warman and
the city is in the process of reviewing
these proposed changes. We will

No Real Surprises in 2016 Provincial Budget The provincial budget was released
last Wednesday, June 1 and overall
the Saskatchewan Chamber feels
there were no radical surprises.
Over the last year the Saskatchewan
Chamber has asked the government
to continue their investments into
trade-enabling infrastructure and they
have fulfilled this request by an-
nouncing a high level of infrastructure
spending. Sask. Chamber also advo-
cated that the government ensure
any new infrastructure investments
are “shovel worthy” and not just
“shovel ready.” Over the next year the
Saskatchewan Chamber will continue
to advocate in support of a list of im-
portant considerations for investment
decisions.
Some of these include:
• Consider public sector projects that
will trigger incremental private sector
investment and which can be complet-
ed in the most advantageous
timeframe or season;
• Retain focus on the Plan for Growth
objectives when determining projects,
keeping the achievement of the plan
goals a priority;
• Make investments in the area of trade
to enable projects that improve produc-
tivity and enhance export capacity;
• Make sure clarity is achieved regard-
ing revenue and expense streams, and
the surrounding challenges and opportu-
nities each budget decision will create.
Transparency and the adherence to a
solid recovery plan are key elements for
managing the current deficit.
There is still time to submit your appli-
cations for the ABEX Awards. The
application deadline has been extend-
ed to June 20th. The ABEX Awards,
presented by Conexus Credit Union,
honour outstanding achievements in
business excellence. The awards have
gained prominence as the most highly
esteemed symbols of business excel-
lence in this province. The ABEX
awards highlight pivotal business ele-
ments of provincial prosperity and are
the only business award that honours
all private sector enterprises in Sas-
katchewan regardless of size and
economic activity. This year’s ABEX
Gala will be held on October 22, 2016
at TCU Place in Saskatoon. For more
information, please visit saskcham-
ber.com or click HERE.
