– Brene Brown As a leader, a mom and a human, I love to read. Currently I’m savouring the words of Brene Brown’s “Dare to Lead”. This week as I listened to Angela Groeneveld from Ec Dev talk about bold plans for the Town of Okotoks and put her ideas on the line in front of both her leadership and our members, all of the words I’ve been reading fit perfectly. Angela is courageous. She will show up and be real and vulnerable and dare to deliver plans that may seem uncomfortable for some, or even outrageous to others - but she has a big mandate in a short window and the bravery to dare. Your Chamber will communicate the needs of our business community to Angela and her growing team as her plans gain momentum. That started with our ‘Red Carpet, Not Red Tape’ policy last December. Moving forward that will mean bringing all of the business groups in town together to unite our voices and communicate our needs. We’re on a precipice of change here in Okotoks and as our members, your voices and concerns inform us. Brene also wrote “Courage starts with showing up and letting ourselves be seen”. As a Chamber, our mandate is your voice. We’re very excited. It’s vulnerable and different and we will work hard on your behalf. Thanks for making a difference in our community. Every. Single. Day. Okotoks RCMP Crime Reduction Unit has launched a Crime Prevention Community Policing Initiative within the Town of Okotoks. The Community Policing Initiative is partnering with local businesses to collect pertinent data to decrease investigation time and aid in having the information readily available. The Initiative was rolled out in mid January 2019 and to date, we have received positive feedback from the businesses. Our goal in the Crime Reduction Unit is to work closely with our community partners to conduct pro-active police work.

to ask surrounding a disability. This luncheon involves education and correct terminology in dealing with employees or customers with disabilities in the workplace.
