Chad Arentz, Founder/Creative Director of Jump Creative (formerly Jump Motion Design)

Sponsored by:

“Your Website: Believe It or Not, It’s a Marketing Investment”

Presented by:

Chad will demonstrate how a website can and should be used to effectively brand, communicate, capture leads, share content, and organically build awareness and

engagement. He will focus on building your brand online and setting your company up for success for the long haul.

Chad Arentz was recruited into the advertising field while still in design school. After graduation, and a year of ad design, WPMT-TV, a FOX affiliate in York Pennsylvania stole him away to design sets, print ads, and on-air graphics. From that point the hook was in. Chad began to plot a course for a bright future in the television field, by training himself in al-most every aspect of TV production and promotion. Starting as a graphic designer, he quickly ascended to Art Director at FOX43, then to Promotion Director of WYOU in Scranton (where he met his future business partner). Next, Creative Director of RNN, a regional news network in New York. It was a wild nine years that earned him numerous awards, and brought lots of priceless experiences.

In 1998, Chad moved back to Central PA. As Director of Broadcast Design, he helped position Cinemagic as a national leader in the field, creating news graphics packages and visual brands for over 30 television stations in markets all over the U.S. and abroad. Also at Cinemagic, he produced numerous TV commercials, interactive DVD interfaces for MTV, VH1, Sports Illustrated and motion user interface graphics for the NFL Network and Gotuit Video On Demand.

In late 2006, he asked Matt if he’d like to start a new venture as a Motion Design studio. They chose the name “Jump Motion Design”, secured a domain, and got started. With two locations - Matt in Scranton, and Chad in Harrisburg, they stay in touch and collaborate often under the newly named (as of 2019), Jump Creative.

Since 2013, Chad has increased his focus on Website Design, Brand Development and Marketing, and has been helping clients establish brand awareness and increased engagement with their customers… all while enlisting his creativity at every opportunity.

The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act is the biggest federal tax law change in over 30 years. Below are some significant changes affecting employers. Note: Except where not-ed, the changes are effective for tax years 2018 – 2025.

Certain Fringe Benefits ModifiedPrior Law. Generally, a deduction has been allowed for an activity (or facility used in connection with the activ-ity) considered to be entertainment, amusement, or rec-reation that was directly related to the active conduct of an employer’s business when the expense was included in an employee’s gross income as taxable wages, or oth-erwise excludable as a fringe benefit.

For example, the cost of employer-provided qualified transportation fringe benefits, such as parking, transit passes, and vanpool benefits was deductible by the em-ployer and excluded from the employee’s W-2 wages.

Another example applies to meals furnished to an em-ployee for the convenience of the employer that are pro-vided on the employer’s business premises. Such costs are deductible by the employer and excluded from the employee’s W-2 income.

Entertainment Expense DeductionThe new law provides that no deduction is allowed with respect to:• An activity generally considered to be entertainment,

amusement or recreation,• Membership dues with respect to any club organized for

business, pleasure, recreation or other social purposes, or• A facility or portion thereof used in connection with

any of the above items.

The new law does not apply to certain exceptions includ-ing expenses for recreational, social, or similar activities

primarily for the benefit of employees (other than highly-compensated employees).

Food and beverage expenses related to entertainment may be deductible if the entertainment (e.g. ticket to an event) and the food and beverage expenses are either paid for separately or separately stated on the invoice for the entertainment.

Transportation BenefitsThe new law disallows a deduction for expenses associ-ated with providing any qualified transportation fringe benefit to employees of the taxpayer, and except as nec-essary for ensuring the safety of an employee, any ex-pense incurred for providing transportation (or any payment or reimbursement) for commuting between the employee’s residence and place of employment.

MealsEmployers may still generally deduct 50% of the food and beverage expenses associated with operating their trade or business (e.g., meals consumed by employees on work travel). The new law expands this 50% limita-tion to expenses of the employer associated with pro-viding food and beverages to employees through an eating facility that meets requirements for de minimis fringes and for the convenience of the employer (such as an in-house cafeteria).

Bicycle Commuting ReimbursementPrior Law. Qualified bicycle commuting reimburse-ments of up to $20 per month were excludible from an employee’s gross income.

New Law. The bicycle commuting reimbursement ex-clusion is repealed. Any reimbursements are taxable to the employee.
