Why you may need to update your email address:
1. You many need to change/update your email address for Core Portal login for
various reasons some of which include:
If your department has recently changed its name, for example, the Department of
Communications, Energy, and Natural Resources (DCENR) has changed to the
Department of Communication, Climate Action and Environment (DCCAE).
You may want to change your email address to your own personal email or change it
back to your work address
If you don’t keep your information up to date, any recovery emails will not be sent to the
correct email address, thus, reducing your range of autonomous actions.
Core Portal Expenses: if you are an approver, or even if you are claiming expenses,
all updates/notifications are sent to the email address stored on Core Portal.
Therefore, any changes should be reflected on your profile as soon as possible. This
can be done on the Core Portal system via the self-service using the steps outlined
below.
Useful Tip:
It is important to note that: ‘Reset Password’ by Security Questions is still available to you
in the event that you forgot your password and your email address is out of date.
2. Changing/Updating your Email Address on Core Portal:
a) Log into Core Portal as normal – you will automatically be routed to the Employee Dashboard
screen.
b) Positioned at the top right hand side of the screen, you will see your name displayed.

c) Click on the drop down arrow to the right of your name in order to display the option ‘Account
Security’.
d) Choose the option ‘Update Email’.
e) Input your New Email address and confirm in the second box.
f) Click Update Email.
g) Close.
Very Important for completion of process:
h) You will receive an email shortly after you have completed this process which will contain a ‘verification’ link. It’s very important that you click on the link to complete the process. (Otherwise the new email address won’t be validated and the process will be incomplete.)
