5.1 Install Fedora 9

Users can download Fedora 9 DVD disc image file:

http://www.arm123.com.cn/iso/Fedora-9-i386-DVD.iso

Step 1: Put installation CD into the CD-ROM drive, the boot BIOS from a CD disc, after

the system starts the following screen will appear, press Enter to continue.

Step 2: Then the next step, check the installation disk, generally does not require

testing, so you choose to Skip.

Step 3: After awhile it into the installation screen, click Next.

Step 4: Select the language to install, select English language here.

Step 5: Select the keyboard, we can generally style keyboard.

Step 6: Setting the default network.

Click "Edit" button, do not set to DHCP, we generally use static IP, fill in the details

below. Enter the IP and Netmask.

Click "OK" to return, begin to set the hostname and the gateway, DNS, and etc.

Step 7: Set the time zone, if you are not using, <System clock uses UTC "option can be

removed, shown.

Step 8: Set the root user password must be six digits or more.

Step 9: Set partition, you can usually select the default.

Step 10: Click "Next" warning message appears, telling you to format the partition in the

execution of all data, generally are in VMware virtual machine, so you can choose "Write

changes to disk", then begin to follow format.

Here is a progress diagram of the steps:

Step 11: Select the type of installation by figure, click <Next? to customize.

Step 12: In the Servers items, select by figure.

Step 13: Start installing the system, the process time will be longer, please waiting.

Step 14: After installation, as shown in figure.

Step 15: Next step, click <Reboot? button to restart the system, appeared for the first

time to use interface, as shown.

Step 16: Some licensing information, without regard, can proceed to the next step.

Step 17: Create user, in which we do not need to create any new user here, click

"Forward" to continue.

Then you will be prompted to confirm, click <Continue? to proceed.

Step 18: Set the date and time, without regard, continue to the next.

Step 19: Lists of the machine hardware information, the default setting, click ?Finish?.

Receive the message, select by figure, the next step.

Step 20: The login screen, we need to be root user to log in, so the first to enter the root.

Just set the password and then enter.

There will be a login prompt after you log in as user root, this prompt will appear each

time, each time point <Continue?.

This is an interface; it is very similar to Windows or Ubuntu.
