Chapter 8- Progress update Why we need progress update in cost control? Imagine if someone gave you 100$ and asked you to buy 100 can of juice. The average price per can = I $ However, you cannot find all the pieces in one place, so you need to start looking for different places and buy the available Quantity within your budget. After you spent 50$ from your budget you were very happy with your performance and you went to tell your boss. what do you expect the first question your boss will ask YOU? Definitely how many cans you have bought, Right? similarly, when you are performing cost control, everyone can calculate how much we spent on the project, but very few who could compare what is actually spent to the progress and accordingly which we should spend. How to measure the site progress? You can measure the progress on-site with whatever method you want since you can link this progress to the actual costs. in my opinion, the best way to do so is from the schedule weekly update. I will show you in the few steps below how easy you can do it. From primavera P6 go to resource assignments and show the actual units Now, we need to store this data in primavera so it will not be changed next time you update the schedule. From tools go to store period performance.

How to measure the site progress?

You can measure the progress on-site with whatever method you want since you can link this progress to the actual costs. in my opinion, the best way to do so is from the schedule weekly update. I will show you in the few steps below how easy you can do it.

From primavera P6 go to resource assignments and show the actual units

Now, we need to store this data in primavera so it will not be changed next time you update the schedule. From tools go to store period performance.
