Happy Thanksgiving From our family to yours

Thanksgiving Day is a harvest festival celebrated primarily in the United States and Canada. Traditionally, it is a time to give thanks for the harvest and express gratitude in general. While it may have been religious in origin, Thanksgiving is now primarily identified as a secular holiday.

In the United States, Thanksgiving Day falls on the fourth Thursday of November. In Canada it is celebrated on the second Monday in October.

The precise historical origin of the holiday is disputed. Although Americans commonly believe that the first Thanksgiving happened in 1621, at Plymouth Plantation, in Massachusetts, there is strong evidence for earlier celebrations in Canada (1578) and by Spanish explorers in Florida (1565).

Thanksgiving Day is also celebrated in the Netherlands. A different holiday which uses the same name is celebrated at a similar time of year in the island of Grenada.

to attend two or three meetings in person on the same day, further expanding the presence and personal reach of key corporate representatives. When it is vital to the interest of the corporation that they attend a meeting to deal with a crisis or sensitive matter chartering a private jet assures that the executives and key employees can prepare in a stress free confidential environment. They can hold private meetings to discuss strategy or sensitive issues in depth so that they are better prepared to deal with any situation they will face at their destination. They are also more likely to arrive in a relaxed and poised frame of mind. A crucial trait of any successful business is excellent communication. When famed investor and businessman Warren Buffett purchased his first jet over 20 yrs. ago for Berkshire Hathaway, it was considered a luxury. But after years of use and seeing the impact it had on his business, he ultimately labeled the plane with the moniker, “The Indispensable.” Andrea Montgomery, VP of Operations for Montgomery Aviation in Zionsville, relayed the story recently when asked about the business of flying. Montgomery explains that general aviation airports and fixed based operators have grown to become essential tools to help businesspeople travel more efficiently. A 2009 study by the Alliance for Aviation Across America concluded that general aviation-not commercial-accounts for 1.2 million jobs in the United States and $150 billion in economic impact annually. It is also determined that 85% of businesses that use general aviation are small to mid-sized companies. MYTH – General aviation is predominantly used by big companies and corporate CEOs. REALITY – Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, eighty-five percent of the companies and organizations that rely on general aviation aircraft are small-to-mid sized businesses which serve as a lifeline to small and rural communities across the country. General aviation serves medical personnel, construction companies, telecommunication providers, manufacturers, farmers and ranchers, and food suppliers and emergency and natural disaster responders. These aircraft operate in over 5,000 airports across the country that serves communities that the major airlines mostly ignore.

AS QUOTED BY ALLIANCE FOR AVIATION ACROSS AMERICAN.

Think about what you have just read, in these economic times why are small to mid-size companies utilizing private jets for business travel and are successful? They recognize the importance of their executives and key employee’s time management. They understand waiting for their next flight out could be a deal breaker.

Something We Can All Appreciate Do you find that you the days just fly by and you feel like you haven’t accomplished much? Personally I feel like this more days than I care to admit. Trying to manage home, work, children and their activities is like being the circus juggler. When I finally get a moment of quiet, which is a rare occasion I make an attempt at organizing my life. The old adage of making lists has helped me become organized and accomplish more than expected. Here are a few tips and or tricks that have worked for me:

1. At the beginning of the week, take five minutes (preferably in the morning when everyone else is sleeping) and make yourself a list of tasks you need to accomplish by the end of the week. Keep the list with you at all times, don’t just leave it on top of the kitchen counter or on your desk.

2. Daily lists puts too much stress, you worry more on how you’re going to finish everything you have to do and evidently not get anything done at all.

3. After you’ve written your list, look it over and make every attempt to prioritize it. Usually I start by counting how many phone calls I need to make and then take an hour or two, sit at my desk and make all the calls in one shot. This is usually quite successful, although sometimes you may have to do it on two separate days, depending on the follow up calls needed.

4. Then, after the calls, go over your list again and review all the things that you are sure won’t take but a few minutes to complete. Do those next. After those are done, look at your list and see how much you have accomplished thus far and start feeling good.

5. Finally, do the more time consuming tasks by order of priority. 6. Cross things out as you complete the task and also add things to the list as the days go by. You’ll notice

that as the week passes if you started with 15 tasks to accomplish, by the end of the week you’ll have, maybe 15 or more added to it. This is normal, and if this doesn’t happen, you really did not have much to do.

7. By the end of the week, take that wrinkled, ripped, messy paper you call a list and review it. You’ll be surprised how much you’ve actually accomplished and pat yourself on the back. Just don’t worry if there are tasks left undone, there’s always next week.

8. Any left-over tasks get transferred to the next week’s tasks. And try to do those first on the following week, or else you’ll start stressing and say that lists don’t work, bunch the paper up in a wad and throw it away. Then you go back to being your old self, stressing over everything you have to do and get nothing done.

I know like any good plan there are those unexpected interruptions, or else it wouldn’t be called life.

World’s Easiest Turkey and Southern Cornbread Stuffing!

World’s Easiest Turkey

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.

Pull the neck and giblets out of the cavity; ditch the liver and save the rest of the giblets for gravy. Dry the turkey with paper towels, then season inside and out with salt and pepper. Fill the turkey with aromatics like chopped onions, carrots, apples and herbs, then place breast-side up in a roasting pan and brush with melted butter. Tent with foil and roast for 2 hours (for a 10- to 12-pound turkey; add an extra 15 minutes per pound for larger birds). Remove the foil, baste with more melted butter and crank the oven to 425 degrees F. Roast for another hour or until the meat at the thigh registers 165 degrees F. Let rest while you make the gravy.

Southern Cornbread Stuffing Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

In a large bowl, combine crumbled cornbread, dried white bread slices, and saltines; set aside. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the celery and onion and cook until transparent, approximately 5 to 10 minutes. Pour the vegetable mixture over cornbread mixture. Add the stock, mix well, taste, and add salt, pepper to taste, sage, and poultry seasoning. Add beaten eggs and mix well. Reserve 2 heaping tablespoons of this mixture for the giblet gravy. Pour mixture into a greased pan and bake until dressing is cooked through, about 45 minutes. Serve with turkey as a side dish.

Question: How can I change how files are displayed in Windows Explorer?

Answer: 1. Open My Computer or Explorer.

2. Click View at the top of the window.

3. Select Icons, Large Icons, Small Icons, List, Details, Tiles, or Thumbnails to change to the type of view you wish to see. We recommend "Details" for users not sure what to choose. Below is additional information about each of these types of views. Keep in mind each version of Windows is different, and all of the below types of views are not available in all versions of Windows. If you do not see one of the below listed under view, your version of Windows does not support that type of view.

• Details - Our recommended view. Details all the files in an easy to read format and also displays the size, type, and date modified in columns.

• Large Icons / Tiles - Displays large icons of the files and folders with their names. Windows XP named this Title. In all previous versions of Windows, this is named Large Icons.

• Small Icons / Icons / List - Displays small icons of the files and folders with their names. Windows XP named this Icon. In all previous versions of Windows this is named Small Icons.

• Thumbnails - Displays large pictures of each of the files and folders in the directory. If the type of file is an image, movie, or other type of file that supports auto preview, you will see a picture of the file without even opening it. This is great for a directory containing photos.
