The fi nancial world has become incredibly sophisticated and complex. There is an abundance of fi nancial information and
advice available, but who can you really trust with your life savings? How do you protect against fraud and theft? How do you know if the advice you receive is sound and in your best interest?
As an independent Financial Advisor, Michael S. Midtvedt, Sr., designs wealth plans and im-plements customized investment strategies for individuals and business clients. He provides unbiased fi nancial guidance and an extensive selection of nonproprietary investment vehi-cles.
Most people want to be fi nancially indepen-dent, live a secure retirement, and eventually pass along a meaningful legacy. People de-serve to know that their Financial Advisor is treating their money with the utmost fi duciary care, says Midtvedt. “My clients are my dearest friends and we trust each other implicitly.”
Before forming Charleston Wealth Manage-ment, Midtvedt was a fi nancial advisor with a national fi nancial institution. “With many fi rms, the emphasis is on the quantity of new accounts generated as opposed to the quality of service rendered,” he says. “Under those conditions it is diffi cult for even the best advisor to provide exceptional service to each client.”
In going independent, Midtvedt wanted to en-sure his long-standing clients would endorse the change. He chose to affi liate with Linsco/Private Ledger (LPL), one of the largest broker-dealer serving independent fi nancial advisors. LPL provides the type of investment platforms
available only at the best Wall Street fi rms. “We have access to institutional class mutual funds, private money managers and fund of hedge funds,” he says. “Additionally, clients love their online account access and special performance reports.”
Midtvedt prefers to collaborate with a client’s tax and legal council. “High net worth individu-als prefer a comprehensive, family offi ce suite of services, and corporations demand that ev-eryone is on the same page,” he explains. “I quarterback the process to ensure that the cli-ent receives the very best treatment.”
Midtvedt’s clients include entrepreneurs, man-agers, retired executives, trusts, foundations, endowments, and employee retirement plans. For corporate clients, Midtvedt offers a multi-tude of pension, deferred compensation and
401(k) accounts. “We focus on providing cost savings, improving customer service and offer-ing fi duciary protection,” Midtvedt says, noting that he scours the universe of plan providers to fi nd the best strategy and augments their ser-vices with local support.
When asked why he and his family relocated from the northeast, Midtvedt joked of having saltwater in his veins. “We were drawn to the incredible beauty and history this area has to offer. The people here are so gracious, and the dynamic economy in Charleston supports im-mense business and cultural opportunities. It took no time at all for our son and daughter to feel right at home as well.”
For prospective clients, Midtvedt provides complimentary portfolio evaluations, competi-tive plan reviews and educational seminars.
