FAQs

What is the “send on” date? The send-on date is when we take the funds from your account to begin delivering your payment. You can send your payment immediately, or if you type your due date into the deliver-by date, we’ll adjust your send-on date based on how we’ll deliver your payment, either electronically or by mail

What is the “deliver by” date? The “deliver by” date is the date you’d like your payment or transfer to arrive to your payee

How can I tell whether a bill payment will be made electronically or by check? If you look at your list of payees, we let you know about how long it’ll take for a payment to arrive, as well as the delivery method, under your payee’s name. We send electronic payments to most companies, but in some cases we have to mail a check on your behalf. We always mail checks for bill payments to individuals.

Why is there a difference in send-on dates for electronic payments and checks? Some payees accept bill payments electronically, and we usually deliver your payment the same day, the next day or within twobusiness days. If your payee doesn’t accept electronic payments, we send a paper check five business days before your deliver-by date

What does “delivery method” mean? The delivery method is how we send a bill payment to your payee. We either send your payment electronically or by mailing a check. We’ll only mail a check if the payee isn’t set up to receive electronic payments (typically smaller businesses or individuals).

When will you process my bill payment? We begin processing your payment on your send-on date. If your payee accepts electronic payments, they’ll usually receive your payment the same day, the next day or 2 business days after your send-on date. If they don’t accept electronic payments, they’ll receive a check in the mail 5 business days after your send-on date.

How will my account be debited when using bill pay? We’ll deduct your payment from your account on the send-on date to begin the payment delivery process to help ensure your payee receives it on or before the deliver-by date

Why is my account debited in advance for my bill payment? We withdraw the payment amount from your account in advance to ensure your recipient receives your payment by the deliver-by date

Why can’t I see all of my scheduled payments when I click pending payments? We show all the payments you’ve scheduled in pending payment activity except payments in “funded” or “funds needed” status. Those payments appear on the bill payment activity page

What’s the difference between a payment with a pending status and a payment with a funded status? If your payment is “pending,” we’re preparing to send your payment on the send-on date, and you still have time to change or cancel it. If your payment is “funded,” we’ve already withdrawn your payment or transfer amount from your account balance

Can I pay more than one payee at a time? You can pay up to 45 bills at a time by clicking on each payee you’d like to pay

I thought all of my payments were made electronically. Why are paper checks being sent?We send electronic payments to companies that accept them, but in some cases we have to mail a check on your behalf. We always mail checks for bill payments to individuals
