Actor Critique

The actor I chose to research was Zac Efron. The movie that I watched was

17 Again. I thought it was a great movie. Zac Efron is a phenomenal actor and

can really bring your emotions into the movie. Zac Efron has also starred in other

major motion pictures such as: Hairspray, High School Musical 1,2,and 3,

Charlie St. Cloud, and Me and Orson Welles. Zac Efrons speciality as an actor is

musicals, but he has shown the world that he can step out of his comfort zone

and perfect roles in dramas and comedies.

Zac Efron has a passion for acting. He graduated from Arroyo Grande high

school in 2006, and was accepted to USC, but turned them down to pursue his

acting career. Zac Efron was inspired by his father to start acting. Zac Efron

starred plays such as Gypsy, Peter Pan, The Boy Who Wouldnt Grow Up, and

Little Shop of Horrors, in high school. His drama teacher recognized Efrons

talents and recommended him to an agent in Los Angeles. The recommendation

opened many doors for Zac Efron and he was soon signed to the Creative Artists

Agency.

Before Zac Efron became a universally known actor, he had smaller roles in

smaller tv series. He had guest roles in several tv series such as, Firefly, ER, and

The Guardian. Zac Efron also had a slightly important role in the now cancelled

series Summerland. He also had many small guest parts in episodes of The

Suite Life of Zack and Cody and The Replacements, on Disney channel.

The High School Musical series was definitely the highlight of Zac Efrons

career. The first High School Musical first premiered on Disney Channel in 2006,

and Zac Efron was the main character. He played Troy, the basketball star, who

was stuck in between choosing between a life of basketball, or a life of singing

and acting. The movie received wonderful reactions from fans and so they went

on to make a second one which also succeeded. The third movie premiered in

theaters and thats where Zac Efrons career started booming. He started

receiving lead roles in major motion pictures such as Charlie St. Cloud and

Hairspray-The musical.

The movie I watched that starred Zac Efron was 17 Again. I thought his acting

was amazing in it, partly because he was playing a middle-aged man as a 17

year old. In the movie, a middle aged man gets to relive his senior year and gets

transformed back to a 17 year old in order to do things the right way. I loved it

because it really seemed like Zac Efron and the other actor were the same

people. Theyre acting was very similar and it showed no changes in character.
