PGL Chateau de Grande Romaine, Lesigny, 77150 IIe-de-France, France nr Paris.
Travel Information:
Please arrive in school from 5:30am but no later than 6:00am on Monday 29 April
2019. The coach will be leaving school promptly at 6:45am.
Our coach company is Aston Coaches of Worcester.
It is important that you do not block the coach on the morning of our departure
and the evening of our arrival, therefore please park in the school playground and
not on the road outside. Please leave luggage in your car until we are ready to board
the coach.
Please come with your child to the check-in desk located in the school hall to
check-in with the relevant group leader. Lists of groups will be posted in the hall
for reference but pupils will already know who their group leader is the week before
the Easter holidays.
There is only enough space on the coach for one case/travel bag and one piece of
hand luggage (small rucksack recommended) per pupil. Please ensure that your
child’s luggage is clearly labelled/identifiable. This will be stored in the hold of the
coach. There is no need to label hand luggage, as this will be on the coach .
Pupils must bring their valid passport (or ID Card if agreed) and EHIC card on
Monday 29 April and hand them to the group leader for safekeeping. Your child’s
mobile phone number must also be given to the group leader at check in if they are
bringing one.
Our return time on Friday 3 May 2019 is approximately 7:00pm. Text messages will
be sent approximately one hour before our arrival back at school. Please let the
school office know if you have changed your phone number.
• Travel sickness wristbands, inflatable neck cushions, a travel pillow and small
blanket for the journey are a good idea.
Money
• Please hand your child’s money to their group leader. Recommended spending
money is around €80-€100 (between £70-£90). Please note that you are
responsible for changing £ into € before the trip.
Please ensure that the spending € and £10 needed for the return journey, are put into
separate envelopes clearly marked with your child’s name, the group leader’s name and
the amount. € should be in small denomination notes in order to make money
management easier for your child (this can be requested when ordering from the
Foreign Exchange) and divided for spending each day.
They will also require about £5 and €5-€10 for the outward journey to France - they will
keep this on them.
Medication
• Please hand all medication to Mrs Saenger in the main hall included a spare in-
date inhaler if required. Your child must always have on their person an in-date
inhaler and the spare will be used only if required. Each medical item must be
clearly marked with your child’s name and clear written instructions for its use.
Parents should administer travel sickness tablets before the journey to school. If
a top up is needed, please put a tablet in an envelope with the time they need to
take it and again, hand it to Mrs Saenger. Travel sickness tablets for the return
journey must also be handed in, again with clear instructions of timing.
School must be informed of any new medical conditions at least 20 working days
prior to leaving for France otherwise the medical insurance may not be valid.
Food and Drink
• Please do not worry about what your child will eat in France or at the centre –
There is something for everybody, most of which is typically English ! The
children are on holiday! Snacks are always readily available
Please provide your child with a light breakfast plus a packed lunch and at least 3
small bottles of still water for the outward journey. No fizzy drinks are allowed
on the coach. Also please restrict the amount of sweets you send for the
journey.
You may wish to provide your child with some healthy snack bars – no chocolate
please, for consumption during the week. It is a good idea to provide your child
with travel games, card games and suitable reading material for the journey.
Electronic Items:
Mobile phones are allowed at pupils own risk and must be clearly labelled. Group
leaders as much as possible will monitor usage. All phones must be switched off
at 10:00pm each night (9:00pm BST). All mobile phones will be collected in by the
group leaders and stored securely overnight. Any pupil who does not follow the
rules will have their phone confiscated and returned to Parent/Carer upon
our return to school. MP3’s, iPods and similar may be brought - again these
items must be clearly labelled and are your child’s own responsibility.
• Cameras – disposables are a very good idea but must be labelled. We cannot
accept responsibility for expensive digital cameras. Photographs are NOT to
be taken in bedrooms and photographs cannot be taken of other students
or staff without their permission.
• A European travel adaptor is required for France and is an essential item if your
child is bringing any electrical equipment, e.g. hairdryer or mobile phone
charger.
Kit List:
Clothes – there is no need to buy any new clothes despite what your child may tell you,
casual clothes are the order of the day. Definite requirements are a waterproof jacket with a
hood and two pairs of trainers. Trousers are suitable for all. Plenty of T-shirts/shirts/blouses
with at least two jumpers that can worn if the weather is cooler. Please do not allow crop tops
and ensure that T-shirts do not have unsuitable slogans or images on them.
A sun hat and high SPF sun cream – these are essential items. We will be outside quite a lot
and in previous years, it has been warm and very sunny. Insect repellent for use in the evening
should also be packed.
Towels are not provided so pupils therefore have to supply their own. Please send 2 large
towels - 1 for washing and 1 for swimming.
• Toiletries – shampoo, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, brush/comb and flannel etc. Please make sure your child does not bring aerosols of any kind i.e. deodorants/hairspray/body
sprays as they can set the fire alarms off at the centre. Deodorant is of course permitted
but must be either roll-on or cream.
• The outdoor heated swimming pool will be open during our visit. Please bring appropriate
swimwear.
Emergencies:
• In the highly unlikely event of an emergency, you will be contacted immediately
on the numbers that you have provided to school
• During our trip, our Assistant Principal Mrs Vale can be contacted at school on
01527 525916 between 8:15am and 4:00pm. We will contact school daily with an
update which will be posted on our social media platforms. This will be a written
summary and not photographs.
• If you need to contact us in the event of an emergency between 4:00pm and
8:15am, then please phone Mr West on 0033 07754 463013. Please only use
this number in the event of an emergency.
• If your child is unable to travel, a doctor’s certificate will be necessary for
insurance purposes. Please telephone 07754 463013 between 5:30am and
6:30am on Monday 29 April 2019.
