LIBRARY – Mrs. Hamre: The Elementary (2nd-5th) AR Party will be tomorrow at 2:00. Any parents who would like to help out with the scavenger hunt are welcome to come celebrate with us.

PRE-SCHOOL – Mrs. Herard: It's hard to believe that it is time for Parent/Teacher conferences already! I am looking forward to visiting with each of you on Th/Fri. Let me know as soon as possible if you will be unable to keep your appointment time so we can reschedule. Costume parties next week Thursday the 30th and Friday the 31st. Notes are in backpacks today. Be sure to turn in Box Tops until the end of the month! Book flyers are coming home today as well with orders due by Nov. 7. This week we are learning about all the nutritious food God gives us that keeps our bodies strong and healthy. Our letter this week is "G".

PRE-KINDERGARTEN - Mrs. Kelly: Happy Birthday Tanner! Happy Birthday Ms. Jess, thank you for all that you do to help our school! Thank you to all of the parents that drove to the field trip, we had a great time! I hope you had a great fall break! Parent/Teacher conferences are today, tomorrow, and Friday. Remember we get out at 11:15 on Friday. Our costume party will be on Friday, October 31st. Look for the note in backpacks today. Our chapel offering this month is for the Habitat for Humanity. We are still collecting Box Tops and Sunny D labels. Our Bible words this week are, God says, "I am with you." Genesis 28:15. We are learning the letter "A" and number "3". Have a blessed week!

KINDERGARTEN - Ms. Miller: We will have a "Fall Costume Party" on Friday Oct. 31st (next week) at 2:30 pm in our classroom and all parents are welcome! Your child may wear a costume that day to school but please don't wear scary costumes. I would like to thank all of the parents that came to the pumpkin patch last Wednesday. It was great to see everyone! We have conferences this week after school on the 22nd, 23rd, and the 24th. You will get your child's report card at the conference. Please remember that Friday the 24th we only have school for half the day (we dismiss @ 11:30). Have a fantastic week!

FIRST GRADE – Mrs. Birnbaum: Memory for Friday - Be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Ephesians 6:10. Remember to collect box tops and attach them to the box top sheet. I thank Kristen Zimmerman and Lori Shepherd for clipping and attaching box tops for our 1st grade class. These are due at the end of the month. I look forward to meeting with you during our scheduled conference times. We will have AR reading test on Friday morning - make sure you bring your book! Our Fall Party will be on October 31 at 2:30. The children can also wear costumes to school - nothing scary please! Book-It reading charts are due on Oct. 31. Happy birthday to London Barnard on Monday, Oct. 27. Have a great rest of the week!

SECOND GRADE – Mrs. Powell: Fall Break was amazing! Now we begin our second quarter of second grade. With the new quarter each child has zero AR points. I am pleased with the improvement I hear in the children's oral reading and in their AR scores. All this practice has its rewards. I appreciate the opportunity to discuss your child's progress in our conferences. Your support is vital to our success. Remember that Friday is a half day. Blessings.

THIRD GRADE - Mrs. Steichen: I hope everyone had a relaxing and fun Fall Break! I hope everyone is geared up for the 2nd quarter. Thank you to all the parents who drove for us last week on the field trip. I hope everyone enjoyed it. I love seeing the kids outside the classroom having a great time. This week: Parent/Teacher Conferences: Thank you for taking time out to talk to me this week. I have really enjoyed your kids and look forward to the rest of the year. This week: Reading: Test on Friday. Spelling: Test on Friday. Math: Test next week. Science: Project coming out next week, so be on the lookout. Memory: First Commandment and meaning due on Friday. Have a great week!

FOURTH GRADE - Mrs. Sibley: Thank you so much for help out with another great field trip last week. We learned so much about Ponca City and its early history. The field trip couldn’t have happened without the parents. At this point we have taken our second STAR Reading test. We will take our Math test soon. I will share the Reading results at Parent Teacher Conferences. Keep reading for AR. Many have found that without nightly reading at home, it can be difficult to make our AR goal. Some of us are already taking tests for 2nd quarter. Our 1st AR quarter party is tomorrow afternoon. October Book It calendars are due 11/03/14, and you will receive the November calendar on 10/31/14.

FIFTH GRADE - Mrs. Schatte: Hasn't the Fall weather been a blessing? I just love the chilly mornings and evenings and warm afternoons! Tests this week include language on Thursday and spelling, reading and social studies on Friday. We are almost done with our states and capitals quizzes. Monday holds the last one over the Northeast. I have enjoyed visiting with parents and look forward to visiting with everyone by Friday. If you cannot

ELIGIBILITY TO PARTICIPATE (team sports, cheerleading, or other extra-curricular activities): Students involved

in extra-curricular activities will have their grade status evaluated at the beginning of every three weeks. A student who has a grade below 70% in any subject will be put on probation. During that time, the student will be given an opportunity to raise the grade above 69.9%. The student must take action to raise the grade. Failure to raise the grade will result in suspension from the extra-curricular activity until the next three week grade check. After the first probationary period, a student will be suspended from the extra-curricular activity when any grade drops below 70%. Suspensions are enforced and lifted on the first school day of the week. (Any students failing a subject on their report card will be suspended from extra-curricular activities until all grades are passing at the three week check point.)

Mrs. Harbeson: Welcome back! I hope you had a great Fall Break, and I hope that everyone is ready to begin the second quarter with an attitude of doing your very best on all assignments and an attitude of getting all assignments in on time every time! This is the time to do it! I absolutely love the concept of having four quarters in our school year. As we move from quarter to quarter, it's like a fresh start. If you didn't have the best first quarter, then you get the chance to change your priorities! Let's start strong!! Friday is student-led parent/teacher conferences. Parents, you should have received a letter about conferences last Wednesday. Please contact us to set up a time to meet. Please continue to check my bulletin board to stay updated on weekly assignments and upcoming events. (Sometimes I even give extra credit for those parents who FastDirect me back!) Blessings on the rest of your week!

Mrs. Hanson: Cheerleaders are selling insulated cardinal tumblers! Find a cheerleader to order your tumbler for this upcoming basketball season. If you bring your tumbler to any home game you can get it filled for only 50 cents!

6th and 7th Grade will test next week. 7th and 8th Grade also have projects that will be due at the end of the month.

Continue to check my website for up to date information. Mrs. Goll: What a great Fall Break! It seems the students are ready to put their best feet forward for the

new quarter. Good start, Students! We do have school Friday a.m. until 11:35, and then the teachers will be available for conferences until 4:00. We encourage parents and students to come to the conference together. If Friday afternoon does not work for you, please call us (or FastDirect) to arrange a time. We look forward to visiting with you about your child’s school progress.

Mr. Covert: Welcome back to FLS and the start of the second quarter! We’re hitting the ground running right away this quarter. The 8th graders are working towards the Revolutionary War in US History. We’re getting close to finishing up Mexico in Geography in 7th grade, before we look at Central America. The 6th grade has started a unit on the ancient Greeks, and we’ll be spending a good amount of time on that. In Spanish, the 6th graders have learned the alphabet, and we’ll be working on some simple phrases to round out the week there.

I hope that everybody had a relaxing long weekend, and God’s blessings on the rest of this week!
