Manager’s Report By Carl Romano The VOTG Board of Directors reconvened the membership meeting that was first held on December 5, 2016. At that Meeting we did not obtain enough proxies and ballots to obtain a quorum of Sharehold- ers, so the Meeting was adjourned before the Election Committee counted the votes. Since December 5, 2016 we received more proxies and obtained enough to count the votes on waiving reserves and also on waiving the audit requirement for 2017. The Election Committee counted the votes. The Shareholders voted to waive reserve funding by a vote of 222 to waive reserves and 50 to have reserves. The Shareholders also voted to waive the requirement to have an audit for fiscal year 2017 by a vote of 232 waiving the audit requirement and 37 voted for an audit. VOTG Board Member Nelson Schriber resigned from the VOTG Board on December 28, 2016 after serving on the Board for eight (8) years. The VOTG Board nominated and unanimously approved appointing Jan Twait, G-18, to the VOTG Board to serve the balance of Nelson Schriber’s term. After being appointed to the VOTG Board, Jan Twait submitted a letter rescinding her “Intent to be a Candidate” form. As a result of Jan Twait withdrawing from the election, we were left with just three candidates for the three open positions on the VOTG Board. Therefore, we will not be holding an election at the Annual Meeting which will be held on February 1, 2017 and David Ragland, Tom Ladd and Clifton Scott will remain on the Board for another three year term. We finally got USA Fence to finish up the four different fence projects we had them working on and Owens Electric came in and replaced the temporary “ground straps” that FPL had provided so that our residents on the J and Q blocks wouldn’t be without electrical power. An AED (automatic defibrillator) was purchased for the Clubhouse. The Yoga Activity group donated $500 toward the purchase of the defibrillator. Management is going to arrange some training for the staff and any resident who would like to learn how to use the device. The defibrillator we purchased has an instructional video built into the device. If someone you know starts having chest pains, please make sure you call 911 first before seeking the defibrillator. I would encourage residents who have internet access to consider signing up for the VOTG Information Blog. It’s free. There are two ways to access the VOTG Information Blog. I hope everyone had a Happy New Year. I wonder how many have broken their reso-lutions already. First I would like to thank John Candelora for stepping up and taking over Bingo on

the 1st of the year; please support him and his committee. And yes, the season is half over for some of us and the activ-ities will increase, meaning more dances, club dinners, pot luck dinners, and new activities to come. Keep checking the bulletin board for the latest news. At this time I would ask that anyone wanting to serve on the Activity Board to put their name in to be considered in the future. So in closing have a great month of February.

Library NewsSubmitted by Linda Twait, Librarian

Thank you for the book donations! This is the only way the VOTG Library can grow since there is not a budget to purchase books. Because of so many generous people, close to 200 books have been donated since October 2016. Keep them coming! Monetary donations are also accepted for purchasing books. Please consider donating to the library in honor of your own or someone else’s birthday or anniversary. To donate contact me, Linda Twait, at 712-260-7724 to make arrangements. Changes have been made in the arrangement of the books to make it easier to locate items. There are signs in the library to help direct you to the correct shelves. A huge thank you to those who helped with the shelves and relocating the books! It is not too late to join the Friends of the Library group. Call me at the number listed above if you are interested in helping with the library. Both year-round residents and snowbirds are needed for the group. For new residents, the library operates on the honor system. Borrow what you would like and return them when you are fin-ished. There is no checkout system or time limit. “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” Dr. Seuss

Decorating of the Clubhouse NewsSubmitted by Jan Ransom and Jane Brogli

We need help decorating the hall on Monday, February 6th after the board meeting, which is around 9:30 AM. We especially need a couple of men for the ladders and many women to help them put the decorations up and put them away in plastic bags. No decorating experience is needed and we even have jobs for those of you who like to sit down. This project takes about 1 hour. So, plan on staying after the board meeting or coming up at 9:30 to help us decorate our hall. Thank you!!

FMoWho We Are

Submitted by Jean O’Shea1. The Federation of Manufactured Home Owners (FMO) is a

non-profit membership organization whose purpose is to protect manufactured home owners. The FMO is the only consumer advocacy association fighting to protect your rights. No other organization does what we do.

2. The FMO has hundreds of volunteers who give some of their time to make sure that the way of life we have chosen is pro-tected.

3. The FMO lobbyist in Tallahassee watches for legislation that affects your lifestyle.

4. The FMO has an attorney that advises the board of directors. Our attorney answers legal questions in each issue of the official FMO member magazine – The FMO News.

5. The FMO gets its political strength from the number of members we have. Homeowners get their strength from the number of people who vote.

*The FMO needs your support to continue to protect you and the lifestyle you’ve chosen.* We give you a voice, so please give us a hand. Join FMO today, tomorrow, or this week! For help, questions, or information, call me, Jean O’Shea (B22) at 941-782-8519. Thank you!
