5 Cheap Ways to Increase Horsepower.
Cold air intake
The idea is that cold air is more dense, so more air gets into the cylinders to mix with the fuel. More air means
morecombustion, and more combustion means more power, to the tune of a realistic 5- to 7-horsepower in a typical engine.
This only works if the air intake is the limiting factor, however. If your engine is already sucking in big breaths of cool, fresh air,
then try one of the other tricks on this list.
Cat-back Exhaust
No cats need be harmed in the increasing of one's horsepower (how did so many animals make it into this t ip?). This means
that you straighten the pipes from thecatalystin the exhaust tubing to the back of the car, at the bumper. "This will loosen up
the entire system," said Jeff Zurschmeide, author of "The New Mini Performance Handbook." "It pushes the exhaust gases out
easier." Getting those gases out ASAP means more room for more air and fuel, and more air and fuel means more power.
Zurschmeide notes that "new catalysts are less restrictive than they used to be, and they're designed to work with the engine.
They're not such a bar toperformanceanymore." If your car is, ahem, vintage, you might want to check out tip number
High-flow Catalyst
When cars were first required to have catalytic converters,manufacturersrushed to slap them into place. They didn't do one's
performance any favors, though they did help the air we breathe some. It took decades for catalysts to improve, with even cars
from the 1980s and 1990s getting gummed up in the converters. And if you added leaded gas to that equation? Well, you were
lucky if you could make it up a hill. Try this: Swap an old catalyst out for a modern aftermarket high-flow number and feel the
difference in the pedal. Do this along with a cat-back exhaust, Zurschmeide says, for the biggest bang for yourbuck. He also
notes that it's illegal to remove a catalyst that's not broken -- and there are some hefty fines for punishment. Do not, under any
circumstances, knock a hole into your catalytic converter with a wrench you happen to be holding, requiring it to be replaced,
perhaps by a high-flow catalyst. You hear that? Do not knock a hole in it
Tire Tricks
Believe it or not, there are a bunch of tweaks you can make to your tires to increase the feel of power in your car. Zurschmeide
suggests starting with a more aggressivealignment. Dial out the toe-in that manufacturers specify so that the wheels are
pointed straight ahead for more straight-line speed. Swap out the regular tires for a set of shorter tires to increase acceleration
and better top speed. Sure, this will make your speedometer read incorrectly, but it's a small price to pay for a higher top speed.
You can always get a new set of light weight wheels to mount those shorttireson, too, but be careful here if you're pinching
pennies. A set of carbon-fiber wheels may lighten your load, but they'll lighten your wallet by far, far more.
Reflashing
Reflash! Ah-aaaah! Savior of the universe! Reflashing your car's computer merely changes its programming regardingtiming,
fuel-air mixture and other horsepower-upping inputs. The benefit of a reflash, besides the added power, is that it can be undone
if you need warranty work done or have to have your car inspected by the state environmental department. The downside is
that it really only works if your car is turbocharged or supercharged; reflashing a normally aspirated engine will only get you anextra half a horsepower, Zurschmeide says. And as with some of the others on this list, it only nets a big power boost if the
factory programming is the limiting factor for your engine. Swapping out the stock computer for an entirely new module could
help -- but that, Zurschmeide says, "has a very high price of entry."

Congress is trying to play rogue politics at the expense of Seemandhra people for their dirty political
number games. After 10 years of misrule at Center as well is in AP, Congress aspiring to win in AP is
ridiculous. Their losing 2014 elections is a foregone conclusion. What if "Resolution" gets bounced in
AP Assembly? If at all AP gets bifurcated Chandrababu Naidu will be singularly accountable for not
standing for United AP, eventhough that was the stated policy of TDP. He comprised state's interest
in 2009 elections for ascending to power which bounced.
One way, package might be better for Andhra. They get some infusion of development of 3-4
districts around new capital. Hyderabad any way is a national city and while bifurcating Andhra can
negotiate and have some preferential access to facilities for next 20 years. For people of Andhra
separation and package is good option but for politicians of Andhra, bifurcation is a huge loss. Let us
wait & see what will happen.
I guess Congress's misadventure will boomerang on their face and while AP will remain a united
state Congress will get wiped off forever detrimental to people's interest.

Fuel Efficiency
What is the best method to measure the fuel efficiency of my car?
The recommended way to measure fuel efficiency is to first fill petrol to reach the full tank level, next note
down odometer reading (kilometres) at that point. After driving for a week top up petrol to reach full tank andnote down the odometer reading once again. The difference in the two odometer readings divided by the
quantity of fuel needed to top up the tank the second time will give you the exact fuel efficiency. For example -
If the difference in two odometer readings is 357 kilometres and the fuel quantity used for topping up fuel the
second time is 21 litres, then the average is 17 kmpl. You can do a similar calculation over a shorter drive too,
but the reading may be skewed by traffic conditions on that day. Remember to use full-tank to full-tank readings
only. Otherwise you would get an approximate figure only. Also try to average such readings over a long time,say a few months, rather than relying on a single reading to exactly know the fuel efficiency of your car.
The mileage of the vehicle depends on various factors -
Frequent stopping and short distance travel consumes more fuel .
Traffic conditions - The mileage will vary between heavily crowded areas and less traffic areas.
Needless idling at traffic lights affect fuel consumption. A mere ten minutes idling will waste 100cc offuel .
Tyre pressure - Recommended tyre pressure should be maintained. The tyre pressure should bechecked preferably in the morning, before the day heats up. You can find the recommended pressure
for your car in the sticker pasted on Fr. RHS door and in the owners manual. Less tyre pressure will
increase fuel consumption.
Driving at higher speed consumes more fuel than driving at steady speed of 45 to 55 kmphr in top gear.
Changing of gears - 1st to 2nd @10 Kmph,2nd to 3rd@20 Kmph,3rd to 4th@30 Kmph
Adulterated or less quantity of fuel dispensed by petrol pumps would indicate poor fuel efficiency . Clogged air filter, worn out clutch, badly tuned engine and high pollution levels increase fuel
consumption
Even after adhering to the above factors if the fuel consumption is high, kindly take the vehicle to any
of the authorized Maruti dealer for inspection and fuel consumption testing
How do I check for purity of fuel and quantity?
There is a test procedure available to check the purity of fuel. Put a few drops of petrol on blotting
paper and allow the fuel to evaporate. If it does not leave any mark on blotting paper it means the petrol
is not adulterated, otherwise it is adulterated. For fuel measurement you should know the fuel tank
capacity of your car. When it is empty fill it up OR get the petrol in a measuring flask (1or 2 liter
capacity).
