the town. A further name
change became necessary when
the town’s mail was consistently
mishandled and often sent to
Columbia, South Carolina. Mr.
Melvin Watkins persuaded the
town to adopt the name
“Ramseur” in honor of
Confederate Major General
Stephen D. Ramseur under
whom Watkins had served in the
Civil War.
Today the town has 1,400
residents, 8 churches in the
town limits (32 within a 5 mile
radius), 9 restaurants, 59
businesses, 12 industrial plants,
and 4 schools including Faith
Christian School.
A BRIEF HISTORY
Affiliations
HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL
Faith Baptist Church was
established in January of 1965
with 27 charter members. One
burden that weighed on the
hearts of the charter members
was the need for Christian
education in Randolph County.
The church incorporated in
order to make the preparations
to establish a school. Under the
direction of Faith’s first pastor,
Rev. Richard Gray, the school
began operating in September of
1968. Faith Christian School was
one of the first Christian schools
in North Carolina’s modern
Christian school movement.
In the early years, the school
experienced multiple leadership
changes. In the first twelve years
of the school’s existence there
were nine administrator changes
until Bill Hohneisen (BJU class of
1969) was hired from among the
faculty to guide the school in
1981. Over two decades later,
Faith has experienced solid,
consistent and healthy growth.
The school presently employs 43
faculty and staff people, including
28 teachers from grades 3K to
12. Longevity in personnel is a
hallmark at Faith to which only
the Lord Jesus Christ can be
credited.
HISTORY OF THE TOWN
The motto of the Town of
Ramseur, North Carolina is “The
Finest Little Town in the
World.” First settled by the
Catawba Indians, William Allen
purchased land in the area
following the Revolutionary
War.
In 1840, the Allen land began to
be sold as small lumber and
cotton mills began to appear
along the Deep River, which
runs through the town.
Originally called Allen’s Falls, the
town’s name became Columbia
after Columbia Manufacturing
Company built a cotton mill in

administrators of Faith, Bill
Hohneisen, presently serves on
the board of directors of
NCCSA.

active member of the American
Association of Christian Schools.

FAITH CHRISTIAN SCHOOL’S
COMPUTER PHILOSOHPY
We respect the right of some Christian schools to advocate the minimal use of
computers in the Christian educational process. We do understand the dangers of the
Internet and the cost of maintaining computers.
At Faith we believe that the computer is a tool to be used to its fullest capacity. Over
the years, FCS has developed an entire 16 acre campus that is networked to a Windows
2003 server. Some of the buildings are connected via fiber optics. We use School
Dynamics Software which allows our teachers to be 100% computerized for lesson
plans, gradebook, taking lunch orders, communicating with parents via e-mail,
communicating with each other via announcement module, attendance, and discipline.
Our software also uploads this information to the Worldwide Web where parents have
constant access to their child’s information. Teachers have a networked computer at
their desks for their convenience.
Each student and teacher are licensed to use Office 365 online with unlimited storage is a
personal One Drive for Business account. Students who are thirteen years and older are
entitled to download the entire Office 2013 Suite to up to fifteen devices: five copies on
desktops or laptops; five copies on tablets; five copies on Smartphones. As the year
progresses, our students are continually learning who business in done in the electronic
world and should be well suited to compete.
Our older students are also afforded the opportunity to be trained in using the
Professional version of InDesign. This is the program that is used to compile the
yearbook, but each student is given an opportunity to learn the basic of this powerful
program.
The PURPOSE of Faith Christian School: Glorifying God.
The VISION of Faith Christian School: Educating and Training Servant Leaders for the Kingdom of God using God’s Word as the guide.
The MISSION of Faith Christian School: How we are seeking to fulfill the PURPOSE and VISION (The framework for the biblical ideas):
The PILLARS of our MISSION (The SPIRITUAL Dimension of life): We seek to teach each student that he/she should be
actively involved in (3) basic spiritual activities in church and in his/her private life:
WORSHIP (personal & corporate), LEARNING (personal & corporate) and CARING (focusing on God & neighbors).
The PRINCIPLES of our MISSION (The SOCIAL Dimension of life): We seek to teach each student the 7 Basic Principles
outlined in the Institute of Life Principles as a biblical framework for dealing with the normal social issues of life:
DESIGN, AUTHORITY, RESPONSIBILITY, MORAL FREEDOM, OWNERSHIP, SUFFERING, SUCCESS.
The PRACTICES (The PHYSICAL Dimension of life): We seek to teach each student 7 Habits advocated by businessman
Stephen R. Covey as a framework for handling everyday matters:
INITIATE, PLAN, PRIORITIZE, NEGOTIATE, COMMUNICATE, SYNERGIZE, RENEW
