We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Duty Manager to join us in Otley as a key member of the store management team; responsible for maximising sales and performance and developing a highly engaged and high performing team.

Within the role you will lead the team with a hands-on approach that will inspire, build the team spirit and create an environment where everyone considers us to be a great place to work and to shop.

You will be involved in absolutely everything in the store, such as recruitment, stock control and store standards as well as day to day involvement in the general paperwork, processing invoices and determining pricing, purchase ordering, customer orders, accounting activities, customer interface as well as having a key-holder status and sorting the float in the tills/cashing up.

You are also required to be involved in the development of annual budgets, marketing strategies, social media, e-commerce website maintenance, product choice and the further development of own brand lines. All management staff must also be able to cover in the shop/delivery van driving as needed.

The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year’s management experience within a retail or service environment and should be able to demonstrate a ‘hands on’ approach, with excellent customer service, communication skills and telephone manner. Literate, numerate, experienced with computers (Windows, Outlook, Excel, Word, Adobe Photoshop etc.) and a team player, previous experience with Premier EPOS till system is advantageous but not essential. An interest in animals, pets and their welfare would be an advantage but is not essential as ongoing training will be provided. Highly motivated, engaged, and punctual, you will be keen to learn, able to multi-task and work in a fast paced, busy environment.

If you have not already achieved this, you must be willing to train for your AMTRA (Animal Medicine Training Regulatory Authority) qualifications to become a Suitably Qualified Person (SQP) to enable you to supply animal medicines. We will also provide training so that you can obtain your Forklift Truck Counterbalance license.

Due to the nature of the role, a full and clean UK manual driving licence is required, along with access to your own vehicle. Heavy lifting will be required as part of working in the shop/on the delivery van.
