Cross-metathesis of O- and C-allyl galactopyra- nosides (I) and (X) with various olefins in the presence of Grubb’s ruthenium catalyst yields the corresponding carbohydrate derivatives in high yields and with good to high stereoselectivity. This simple method is of general interest and proceeds under very mild and neutral conditions with the catalyst remaining highly active in the presence of a wide variety of functional groups. — (ROY, RENE; DOMINIQUE, ROMYR; DAS, SANJOY K.; J.
