What is Nickel?Nickel is a

ferromagnetic metallic element that is used in alloys.

Nickel is also in the iron group.

It originates from the Greek word kupfernickel.

The FeaturesNickel has a silvery-

white look.It is a hard

malleable substance, and it is a ductile metal.

What to know…The major usage of

Nickel is in the process of preparation of alloys.

About 65% of Nickel that is consumed by the Western World is used for the process of making stainless steel.

Nickel in the EnvironmentThe total amount of

Nickel that has been dissolved in the sea is to be about 8 billion ton’s.

Because the organic matter in earth is strong, it has the ability to absorb the metal.

Health EffectsWith too much Nickel…

Higher chances of development of lung cancer, nose cancer, larynx cancer and prostate cancer

Sickness and dizziness after exposure to nickel gas

Lung embolismRespiratory failure Birth defects Asthma and chronic

bronchitis

What else has Nickel?Foods naturally

contain small amounts of Nickel

Nickel can be found in detergents

Silverware also contains nickel.

What I learnedI learned that Nickel

is used in a lot of things in the world today.

What I found really interesting was that Nickel is in the air.
