Dear Brethren, The success of a Masonic lodge can be measured in several different ways: participation of the members, ritual proficiency, community involvement, philanthropy, the list goes on. The Grand Lodge of Virginia acknowledges a successful lodge with the James Noah Hillman award. Cherrydale has a rich history of at- taining this recognition, and with effort we can continue this tradi- tion. It is important that every member does what he can within the length of his cable tow to make this possible. All too often, it is the same core brothers that are putting in the effort for the enhancement of Cherrydale Lodge. While these brotherscommitment to the craft is commendable, an over-reliance on them will lead to complacency from the rest of the members and resentment from these brothers. The beautiful thing is, there are many op- portunities for you to support your lodge. Donating blood - Anytime and anywhere you make a blood donation, simply inform Wor. Ed Jones, our lodge blood coordinator. You will be saving lives and supporting your lodge. Financial donations - A few dollars here and a few more there can make a great impact on the lives of others. A contribution to the Masonic Home or the Cherrydale Lodge Scholar- ship Fund affords you the opportunity to help your brothers and support your lodge while living up to your obligations. Learn a lecture - While this may seem a daunting task, the ability is within all of us. A small commitment of time and effort goes a long way. We have several excellent teachers and if you remember your catechisms, you are halfway there. Attend a fraternal visit - Perhaps lifes circumstances have made it challenging for you to regularly attend our stated communications. Attending another lodge for a fraternal visit on a different night may work for you. A list of planned fraternal visits will be included in each months trestle board. Dear Brethren, The success of a Masonic lodge can be measured in several

different ways: participation of the members, ritual proficiency,

community involvement, philanthropy, the list goes on. The Grand

Lodge of Virginia acknowledges a successful lodge with the

James Noah Hillman award. Cherrydale has a rich history of at-

taining this recognition, and with effort we can continue this tradi-

tion.

It is important that every member does what he can within the length of his cable tow to

make this possible. All too often, it is the same core brothers that are putting in the effort

for the enhancement of Cherrydale Lodge. While these brothers’ commitment to the craft

is commendable, an over-reliance on them will lead to complacency from the rest of the

members and resentment from these brothers. The beautiful thing is, there are many op-

portunities for you to support your lodge.

Donating blood - Anytime and anywhere you make a blood donation, simply inform Wor.

Ed Jones, our lodge blood coordinator. You will be saving lives and supporting your

lodge.

Financial donations - A few dollars here and a few more there can make a great impact on

the lives of others. A contribution to the Masonic Home or the Cherrydale Lodge Scholar-

ship Fund affords you the opportunity to help your brothers and support your lodge while

living up to your obligations.

Learn a lecture - While this may seem a daunting task, the ability is within all of us. A

small commitment of time and effort goes a long way. We have several excellent teachers

and if you remember your catechisms, you are halfway there.

Attend a fraternal visit - Perhaps life’s circumstances have made it challenging for you to

regularly attend our stated communications. Attending another lodge for a fraternal visit

on a different night may work for you. A list of planned fraternal visits will be included in

each month’s trestle board.
