On Sunday, October 12th, several members of the Cheshire Chapter of Hadassah, their families, and friends gathered to celebrate Sukkot and the fall season by picking apples at Drazen Orchard. The chapter enjoyed hayrides, delicious apples, and gorgeous October weather. A special thank you to Hadassah member Lisa Drazen for her hospitality and generosity. The event would not have been possible without the efforts of Vice Presidents of Fundraising, Jean Caplan and Bonnie Donato. Thank you to all who attended!

President’s Message
Shalom Cheshire Hadassah!
It has been a wonderful experience as your President this past year. I have gotten the opportunity to learn
from many of you and share in your passion for the wonderful organization that we are all a part of. This has
been an educational and fun year filled with the exercising, eating Passover delicacies at Mickeys, making our
own Challah, learning more about Hadassah’s Bar and Bat Mitzvah projects, and picking apples. All of these
events, the holiday fundraisers and this bulletin, would not have been possible without the incredible efforts of
our board members. Thank you all!
Thank you to all of our members who have made both large and small donations to Hadassah in 2014. All of
your donations are much appreciated and contribute to the ground breaking research done at Hadassah
hospital in Jerusalem every day.
I am incredibly honored to pass on the Presidency reigns to the very capable hands of Bonnie Donato for
2015. I know Bonnie will be a fabulous President. Like I did, she will need all of your support to continue the
success of our chapter.
Please see the enclosed order form to purchase your latkes, chocolate, and candles to help you and your
family celebrate the upcoming Hanukah holiday.
Shalom,
Alyssa Budkofsky

On Sunday, September 14th, several chapter members met to share a delicious pot-luck luncheon at Sue Chasen’s home. It was a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with friends and meet new friends. After the meal, national board member Lieba Lander explained the many ways that Bar and Bat Mitzvah students can do Mitzvah projects that reflect their own personal interests but also benefit Hadassah. Lieba shared stories of B’nai Mitzvot with whom she has worked in the past and gave suggestions for projects that could be done in the future. Lieba brought folders filled with information and we have a few extras that we are keeping for the chapter. If you have a child, grandchild, niece or nephew who is looking for an exciting Mitzvah project that could benefit Hadassah, please email Alyssa Budkofsky at [email protected] to get a folder and Lieba’s contact information.
Cheshire Hadassah had another year of success with the Rosh Hashanah fundraiser. Thank you to Lori Weiss, Sally Laden and Suzanne Perlroth for helping to make the sale and distribution run smoothly.
Thank you to: Cheshire BIG Y for supplying the baked goods, Cheshire Florist for supplying the flowers and
The Big Dipper for supplying the candles. Twenty members of the chapter purchased goods to help the
fundraiser make approximately $223.00

Over the past several years, our chapter has been trying to “go green” by reducing the number of paper mailings
to just four bulletins per year with all additional flyers and information being sent via email and posted on our
website. A few members have recently requested to receive their bulletins via email as well.
If you would like to receive the next bulletin via email instead of a printed copy in the mail, please
email Sue Chasen at [email protected]. Emailed bulletins will be sent as a PDF attachment.
Advertise in our Bulletin!
The bulletin is published 4 times per year and mailed to over
275 households and is on our website.
Include your business card sized ad for an annual price of $40.
Ad prices can be prorated for the remaining bulletins this year.
Please Contact Sue Chasen at [email protected] or
203-439-0321 for more information.
