SCANDINAVIAN SCANDINAVIAN

The Scandinavian is an opening for black which gives great control of the centre this is good in the opening because it gives you a better outpost to attack from later.

THE DANISH GAMBITTHE DANISH GAMBIT

The Danish gambit is an interesting opening that goes against some of the principals of chess.

First you give up the centre very early on and keep sacrificing pawns eventually you will be able to move your bishops if you develop them onto the left side of the board you will have created a very powerful attack on their kingside.

THE SCOTCHTHE SCOTCH

The scotch looses a tempo in the opening but do not be put off as it gives great control of the centre.

THE PETROFS TRAPTHE PETROFS TRAP

If you don’t want to play the scotch then maybe you want to play the petroffs trap, if your opponent falls for the petroffs trap then you will have a great chance of capturing their queen early on in the game.

KING AND PAWNKING AND PAWN

The objective of this endgame is to keep the king as far in front of the pawn as possible.

This creates a barrier so that you r opponents king cannot capture your last pawn.

KING AND ROOKKING AND ROOK

With a king and a rook the rook acts as an electric fence so that the opponents king cannot advance up the board.

Then you try to position your king opposite your opponents. When this position has been reached check the opponents king with your rook. This forces the king backwards. Repeat the process until you have achieved check mate.

KING AND QUEENKING AND QUEEN

With a king and a queen you can use the box method to limit the number of squares that your opponents king can go to.

Eventually you will come to a position where the king is in the corner and it has only two squares that it can move back and forth on now is the time to bring your king in.

To finish the game you have to get your queen next to your opponents king so that it can’t move with your king protecting the queen.
