Scope of change (FOR INFORMATION ONLY)

The new LGCIU is a newly designed one, with improved reliability, and enhanced BITE and control algorithms. The New LGCIU Design will consist mainly of: • Improved reliability and maintainability. • Improved testability and diagnostic functionality. • Protection against future obsolescence. • Software loading achieved via an LRU front panel connector. • The option of adding an ARINC 429 bus between LGCIU 1 and LGCIU 2. This bus enables LGCIU1 & LGCIU2 to compare proximity sensor status between system 1 and 2. With this ARINC link fitted additional trouble shooting messages (such as discrimination between electrical and mechanical proximity sensor faults) are available. The aircraft wiring required for the installation of the bus will be introduced by a separate modification 39303 (J2968) Notes : 1. With this Modification, improved trouble shooting using a comparison between Proximity Sensor status is available only if two post-mod LGCIUs are fitted and ARINC 429 link is installed (J2968 / 39303). In case a pre-mod LGCIU is installed, trouble shooting reverts to the original standard. 2. The new LGCIU contains provision for operation with optional Bogie landing gears. This function is inhibited and will not be flight tested and/or certified at this time. 3. If the new LGCIU is installed on an a/c with bogie gears, operation will be inhibited and an LGCIU failure message will be displayed on ECAM. Interchangeability : • On non-bogie MLG aircraft (standard) : TWO way interchangeable, mixable • On bogie MLG aircraft (optional) : NOT interchangeable.
