Physiciantrainingprograms$10.8millionAstheprimarypediatricteachingsiteforEmoryUniversitySchoolofMedicineandMorehouseSchoolofMedicine,wearetrainingmorethan255full-MmeequivalentresidentsandfellowstobethenextgeneraMonofcaregivers.In2018,Children’sprovidedmillionstotrainpediatricphysicians.ThereisagrowingshortageofpediatricphysiciansandbytrainingmoreinGeorgia,morewillstayinGeorgiatopracMceandcareforourgrowingneeds.

Subsidizedservices$28.3millionInanefforttoprovidequalitycaretochildrenofallagesinGeorgia,weprovidedmillionsofdollarsinsubsidizedhealthservicesdespiteafinanciallosstoourorganizaMon.Theseservicesinclude,amongothers,theTraumaProgram,StephanieV.BlankCenterforSafeandHealthyChildren,CenterforClecandCraniofacialDisorders,andMarcusAuMsmCenter.WithoutChildren’s,theseserviceswouldbeunavailableinthecommunity,thecommunity’scapacitytoprovidesuchserviceswouldbebelowthecommunity’sneed,ortheywouldbecometheresponsibilityofthegovernmentoranothertax-exemptorganizaMon.
Unreimbursedclinicalcare$120.7millionWetreatkidsfromall159counMesinGeorgia.Whilethedeliveryofunreimbursedcareisonewaywemeetourcommunity’sneeds,wealsoofferextensiveprogramsandsubsidizedhealthservicestoaugmentcareandimprovethehealthofGeorgia’schildren.PaMentswhoreceivedunreimbursedcareincludetheuninsuredandchildrencoveredbyMedicaid,forwhomwearereimbursedlessthanwhatitcoststoprovidecare.In2018,approximately59percentofouruniquepaMentswereonMedicaid/PeachCareforKidsorunabletocoverthecostoftheircare.

Ourgoal:SetthestandardforgoinggreenamongGeorgiahospitalsBecauseChildren’sstrivestobegoodstewardsoftheenvironmentaroundus,teamshavebeenworkingonsustainabilityiniMaMvesrelatedtoemployeehealthandwellness,uMliMesandresourceconservaMon,qualityoflifeimprovements,ecologicalrestoraMon,buildinglifecycleandmaterialsrecyclingandsustainabilityeducaMonthroughoutthedesignandconstrucMonprocessofournewfaciliMesatNorthDruidHills.Forexample,ourSupportbuildingsconstrucMonteamhasrecycled97.1percentofthetotalconstrucMonwastegenerated,meaningthatonly2.9percentwassenttoalandfill.Thedivertedwastetotals5,198.2tons,whichwouldfill578garbagetrucks.Landfillingwastecostsroughly$50pertonso,inaddiMontohelpingtheenvironment,Children’sisalsoworkinghardtobegoodstewardsofourdollars.WebelievekidsgetbeLerfasterwhentheyhaveaccesstonature,greenspace,sunlightandhealingviews.We’reworkinghardtopreservethosepreciousresourcesforkidstodayandfordecadestocome.EnvironmentalresponsibilityandstewardshipisapriorityasweconMnueconstrucMonattheNorthDruidHillscampusandcontemplateconstrucMonatotherlocaMonswithintheSystem.

“WellnessBuddy”mentorshipprogrammatchesnewphysicianswithphysicianswhohavebeenatChildren’sforatleastfiveyears.Theintentistoconnectnewphysicianstothemental,physical,andemoMonalwellnessprogramofferingsatChildren’s.
• Wheneverpossible,ourclinicalleadersencouragephysicianstotakethestairsforroundsortakethemoutsidetogetfreshairandsunshine.Wemakehealthysnacksavailableforphysiciansinbreakroomstoimprovewellnesshabits.

andwe’veledeffortstomoveGeorgiadowntherankingofmost-obesestatesfrom49to32.
• In2018,ourStrong4Lifeeffortalsoreachedandservedmorethan400,000Georgiachildrenandworkedwith416schools.Wehavetrainedmorethan3,300healthcareprovidersacrossthestatesincelaunchingtheprogramin2011.
• FocusingonfourpillarsofprevenMon—ChildhoodObesity,BehavioralandMentalHealth,Injury&IllnessandChildProtecMon—Strong4Life,ourprimaryprevenMonarm,ismakingadifferenceinschools,inprovideroffices,atcommunityeventsandathome.
