Stairbed to Heaven

ConceptThe concept of "Stairbed to Heav-en" came from the observation that children love all sorts of "hide-outs", where they can create their own fanstasy world far from adults. We wanted to secure that for them, making sure at the same time that the sleeping area would be easily acces-sible for adults in case of such need.

The bed consists of two main fixed parts: 2 storey platform with build in 4 drawers. and mattress on top and upper part with a build-in lamp that lids the inside of the construction. Additionally the bed has colourful semi-trans-parent blinds that can be lowered creating sort of tent with inside lighing and starshaped cut-outs in the upper part (which cast the starshaped lights on the ceiling of the child's bedroom). Additional source of light are the starshaped lamps attached to the upper part of the bed's platform. To match the concept, all handles in the drawers are also in shape of stars. Blinds can be lowered either all together or separately (there are 12 separate panels of blinds around bed)
