Dear Church Family...
Fake news has, sadly, become the norm in contemporary “journalism.” Someone starts a rumor or offers a false accusation. Because some in the media want a story to be true, they discuss it and repeat it even though there is no factual evidence to support it.
The news of Jesus’ resurrection was widely considered fake news. One disciple named Thomas said, “Unless I see
the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe” (John 20:25). A week later, when Jesus appeared again to the disciples, Thomas was there. Jesus asked Thomas to touch His scars, stop doubting, and believe. What transformed a doubter into a believer? The truth.
This year, Easter falls on April 1st, or what is commonly known as “April Fools’ Day.” To many in our day, the resurrection of Jesus is still a joke, a prank, or fake news. What can transform these doubters? Only one thing. Will you pray about whom you will invite to worship on Easter? Tell them that doubters are welcomed to worship at Shiloh Terrace, then pray for them to meet Jesus Christ, the Truth.
Your servant in Christ, Pastor Craig
Craig Christina Senior Pastor
Special Called Church Conference
Wednesday, March 7 | 6:00 p.m. | A107 The purpose of the special called business meeting is to elect an ad hoc committee of church members to study our church’s relationship with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship (CBF) and to vote to hold in escrow all money given to CBF until the study is complete. CBF—a national Baptist denomination/network of churches—recently changed their hiring policies to allow non-leadership employees to practice the LGBT lifestyle. Currently, Shiloh Terrace is affiliated with both the Southern Baptist Convention and CBF.
Lasting Impressions Team Serving
Sunday, March 4 | 12:15 p.m. | Dining Hall Shiloh Terrace is having guests visit with us nearly every Sunday! This is wonderful, but we need your help to insure our guests have a positive experience. The average guest will decide long before the music or the sermon if he or she will return for another visit.
If you are willing to serve on the GREETER TEAM or INFORMATION TEAM, please join us for a brief information luncheon on Sunday, March 4 at 12:15 p.m. in the Dining Hall. We will honor our current volunteers and give simple instructions for the new volunteers. There is no cost to you, but we need to know how much food to order, so please sign up at the Information Center Sunday, call the Church Office at 972-857-9707 or send an email to [email protected].
