Christ’s Second Coming Luke 17:22-37

Page 2: Christ’s Second ComingRe-read Luke 17:22-37. Try comparing two different translations. Was there anything surprising or new that you learned from the sermon? What was most meaningful

Read Revelation 1:7. What does it tell us about the nature of Christ's Second Coming?

What else do we learn about the nature of Christ's return from 1 Thessalonians 5:2-3; Matthew 25:13 & Luke 12:40? What 2 Old Testament events is this compared to? (Hint: Gen. 6-8, 19)

What's unusual about the activities that Jesus describes in verses 27- 28? How does it differ from the Old Testament accounts? What point is Jesus making?

Why does Jesus warn the person on the rooftop not to go down into the house, and the person in the field not to return home in verse 31? What's His message? How does this relate to verse 33?

What does verse 35 communicate? How can we counteract this?

Close by reading 1 Thessalonians 5:1-5 & 2 Thessalonians 2:1-3. What encouragement do these passages offer?

Getting Started What did you find most helpful from this week's sermon? Was anything confusing? Is there anything that needs clarification? Discuss as a group. If you haven’t heard the sermon yet, you can access it at: www.cbcventura.org

What differences do you see between our passage in Luke and Matthew 24:15-21 & Mark 13:14–17? Are there any similarities? What do you make of this?

Read Daniel 7:13-14. Who is this Son of Man? What does Daniel say about Him?

Christ compares His return (Second Coming) to lightening in verse 24. What does He mean by this?
