I have a PowerPoint presentation that I used during the Thanksgiving Service that will be happy to send you so that you can see what we are talking about doing. We have set the weekend of January 28-31 as our target date where we hope to make a major impact toward restoring their church to better condition than before the flood. Here’s what you can do now! Pray for Hickory Hill Baptist Church and their witness to their surrounding community. Pray that we as Walhalla Baptist Churches can come together in a marvelous way to partner with Hickory Hill for the glory of God. Currently we still need several “Team Leaders” from our church or others to lead in the different projects involved there. We have a Sheet Rock Team Leader in our own Buddy Jordan. We have an Electrical Team Leader in Lee Westmoreland from Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. We still need “Team Leaders” in plumbing, floor tile, outside clean up, painting, and misc. repairs. Additionally we will set up a sign up sheet in the church for you to sign up in the area you wish to help. In January we will have a meeting or two to prepare for our trip. Once we go January 28-31 we will still have times to return to finish the job. We will take “Team Leaders” to preview the work prior to our target date and we will work up a punch list of products that must be ordered. For that we will still need to take up “love offerings” from all our churches from now until January 28th. Thanks for reading this long letter. Pray and see how you can participate. See you in church as we celebrate Jesus and His birth!
YOU’VE GOT WHAT IT TAKES!
We are in need of more greeters. It’s a simple, but important way to serve. There are 3 time slots: before Sunday School (a big need), before Worship (our greatest need) and after Worship. We’ve got 3 doors to cover, so it takes lots of people. Please consider this opportunity.
If you would be willing to give 10-20 minutes, share a smile, a handshake, give
a bulletin, show a new person to a class, contact Betsy Reid at 888-0013 or [email protected]. (If you are already serving, I will assume you will
continue unless you notify me.)

EXTENDED TEACHING CARE
Our last publication of The Beacon for this year will be on December 16, 2015. Please have any newsletter articles you would like printed into the office by Friday, December 11th.
Ken’s Korner From Ken… The “Holiday Season” is upon us! Celebrations are everywhere. From the giving of thanks for all our blessings to the birth of the Savior and then the beginning of a new year, we feel, smell, and enjoy all the “trimmings” of these wonderful celebrations. To you and yours, we (Betsy and I) wish you “A Merry Christmas” and the happiest of New Years! You will see elsewhere the many Christmas related celebrations and ministries that our church has come accustomed to each year. God willing I will see you at each and every one. This is a great time of fellowship and worship. On Sunday morning, December 20th, we will revive an old tradition that has been missing for a number of years. We call it “A Story Book Christmas”. This year I along with Betsy and Lauren (Minister to Children) will invite all our children to the pulpit area as I read from the book “The Legend of the Christmas Cookie”. “Not so hidden” in the story is the Gospel presentation of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We want our children to know, understand and respond to the true meaning of Christmas. One day (if not already) each and every one of our children will come to their age of account-ability and receive Jesus Christ as their Savior. We will present a special gift package for each child as we wrap up our Christmas celebration and worship. Together with all our church we will celebrate the wonderful day that Jesus Christ was born on Earth. Hope to see you there.
Disaster Relief Partnership with Fellowship Baptist Churches of Walhalla….
As everyone knows a terrible storm hit the shores of South Carolina recently sending waters flooding throughout communities destroying property in its path. Following the storm our church and many others responded with water, paper products, cleaning supplies and money to help victims throughout the state. Many did not have “flood insurance” and have suffered extreme losses.
Churches were no exception. Working with our SC Baptist Convention Disaster Relief office several of our Walhalla Baptist Churches are partnering to help one such church regain its foothold and repair their church facilities.
We launched that effort on Sunday, November 22 during our Community Wide Thanks-giving Service. We will be assisting the Hickory Hill Baptist Church in Pineville, SC (near Santee) where waters flooded the Santee River and rose to 18 inches inside their church and stayed there for about a week.
All their educational/fellowship area and about ¼ of their sanctuary was effected. They had no flood insurance. But they did have some savings and spent $22,000 to hire a “Mold Remediation” Company to remove the damaged sheet rock, carpeting, furniture etc. Now the task is to help them begin to put their church facilities back together.

THANK YOU, GOD, FOR EVERYTHING Thank you, God, for everything; the big things and the small. For “every good gift comes from God”…the Giver of them all.
And all too often we accept without any thanks or praise The gifts God sends as blessings each day in many ways.
And so at this Thanksgiving Time we offer up a prayer
To thank you, God, for giving us a lot more than our share.
First, thank you for the little things that often come our way. The things we take for granted but don’t mention when we pray.
The unexpected courtesy, the thoughtful, kindly deed…
A hand reached out to help us and in the time of sudden need…
Oh, make us more aware, dear God, of little daily Graces that come to us with “sweet surprise”
from never-dreamed-of places…
Then, thank you for the “Miracles” we are much too blind to see. And give us new awareness of our many gifts from Thee.
And help us to remember that the Key to Life and Living
is to make each prayer a Prayer of Thanks and every day Thanksgiving!
