Ken’s Pen Dear Bethany Family, As we go to the end of the earth with our Lord’s gospel, our prayerful plan is to send the next Bethany team on mission to Africa during the first week of March. This team will share the good news of Christ in several villages and la-bor alongside our partners there to encourage them. Mark this trip down on your calendars, and make it a matter of regular prayer. Pray that those the Lord is calling to go will be excitedly obedient. Pray that the Lord will provide the fi-nances needed to send the team, and that we all will be obedient to give and thus send. Pray that God will bless this effort with the planting of much seed and reaping of harvest.

The planned trip dates are: March 1-9, 2018. The approximate per-person cost is $3,000. You can give toward this trip by noting “Africa trip” on your check or envelope.

CHRISTMAS BACKPACKS Share the Gift

of Love and the Gospel with a child in poverty.

Bethany’s Women-on-Mission (WOM) group is partnering in this initiative with the North American Mission Board and the Kentucky Woman’s Missionary Union. WOM will fill six backpacks with the NEW gift items that we will place on the white shelves in our second-floor hallway by: Bethany’s deadline of September 11.

Required Items (for children who are ages 2 through 4, and 5 through 9):

-Underclothes and socks -Toys (small cars, balls, dolls, stuffed

animals, small musical instruments, toy jewelry, flashlights with batteries, Chris-

tian books, sidewalk chalk, and Frisbees) -Nonperishable food items (cheese and/or peanut-butter crackers; single-serving, macaroni-and-cheese or pasta cups; fruit

or applesauce cups; granola bars; and pop-top chili, beef-stew, lasagna entrees)

Optional Items: School supplies, tooth-brushes, toothpaste, soap, hairbrushes,

combs, children’s Bibles, and hard candy.
