Praying for the Harvest

Page 2: Church prayer strategy

Truth!• A great revivalist once

said, “It is no more supernatural for believers to have a revival than it is for farmers to reap a crop.”

• He meant that the same principles for sowing and reaping a crop apply in both the natural and the spiritual realms.

Page 3: Church prayer strategy

Truth!• A harvest doesn’t

just happen overnight.

• The farmer prepares the ground and then plants the seed in the ground, and rain causes the crop to grow.

• Finally, the crops are ready for harvest.

Page 4: Church prayer strategy

Spiritual Harvest• The Bible calls people who are ready to receive the gospel a spiritual

harvest.• Matthew 9:36-38 KJV

• (36) But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep

having no shepherd. (37) Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;(38) Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.

Page 5: Church prayer strategy

Same Process• And the Bible gives us

instructions on how to pull people out of the kingdom of darkness and get a harvest of souls for the Kingdom of Light.

• In the natural realm, a crop is produced from a seed. But before the seeds can be planted, the ground has to be prepared.

• Then in order to produce a harvest, after the seed is planted, it also has to be watered.

Page 6: Church prayer strategy

Fallow Ground• Jeremiah 4:3-4• 3 For thus says the LORD to

the men of Judah and Jerusalem: “Break up your fallow ground, And do not sow among thorns. 4 Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, And take away the foreskins of your hearts, You men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem, Lest My fury come forth like fire, And burn so that no one can quench it, Because of the evil of your doings.”

Page 7: Church prayer strategy

Fallow Ground• Hosea 10:12• 12 Sow for yourselves

righteousness; Reap in mercy; Break up your fallow ground, For it is time to seek the LORD, Till He comes and rains righteousness on you.

;;

Page 8: Church prayer strategy

Fallow Ground• Clear your heart of

weeds, in order that they may be prepared for the seed of righteousness.

• Land was allowed to lie fallow that it might become more fruitful, but when in this condition, it soon became overgrown with thorns and weeds.

Page 9: Church prayer strategy

Same Process• The same is true in the

spiritual realm. • Spiritually, we prepare the

ground of people’s hearts through scriptural prayer, and sowing the incorruptible seed of God’s Word (1 Peter 1:23).

• The Word has to be sown in people’s hearts through the preaching of the Word, because it’s the Word that brings light and illumination to men’s heart to set them free from the dominion of the devil (Ps.119:130).

Page 10: Church prayer strategy

Sowing!!!• The task of sowing the

incorruptible Word and telling people about Jesus’ victory over Satan is the responsibility of every believer, not just preachers, because Jesus says, “Go ye therefore and teach all nations …” (Matt.28:19).

• The devil has been defeated and dethroned by Jesus from his place of dominion over believers, but now believers have to go telling the people the good news.

Page 11: Church prayer strategy

Dual Role• If believers only prayed in

regard to the harvest, but no one ever sowed the Word, there would never be harvest of souls – no one would come out from Satan’s dominion.

• Besides, in the Great Commission, Jesus instructed believers to preach and teach His Word in all nations. He didn’t say, “Go ye therefore and pray to pull down demonic strongholds in all nations”!

Page 12: Church prayer strategy

Rain

• A person can pray for a crop all year long, but if he doesn’t get out and plant some seed in his garden, he will come up empty-handed at harvest time.

And I don’t care how good the seed is, or how well prepared the ground is – if there is no water or rain, there will be no crop and no increase.

• James 5:7 says Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting

patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain.

Page 13: Church prayer strategy

Rain• The rain mentioned in this verse is a type of the Holy Spirit.

And in Zechariah 10:1, the Bible instructs us to ask the Lord to send the rain – the spiritual rain of the Holy Spirit: “Ask

ye of the Lord rain in the time of the latter rain…”• To prepare the ground for the seed of the Word to be planted, we can pray for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit

upon all nations.

Page 14: Church prayer strategy

Preparing The Ground• To prepare the ground for the seed of the Word to be planted, we can pray

for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon all nations. • But then someone will have to go and preach the gospel in order to set

people free, because it is the Word that sets people free (John 8:32), that is the scriptural way to change the nations.

• You are not going to be able to deal with nations any other way than by praying according to God’s Word and by sowing the incorruptible seed of God’s Word.

Page 15: Church prayer strategy

Harvest of Souls• Therefore it is scriptural to

ask for the rain – the Holy Spirit – to be poured out upon every nation to cause the seeds of the Word that have been planted in people’s hearts to grow.

• Another way to pray scripturally to pull souls from the kingdom of darkness is to ask the Lord of harvest to send forth laborers into the harvest (Matt.9:38).

Page 16: Church prayer strategy
Page 17: Church prayer strategy

Labourers

• No matter how good the harvest is, if there are no laborers to reap the harvest, the precious fruits of the earth will not be gathered in.

• So just keep asking the Lord for the rain of the Holy Spirit, keep preaching the Word to people, and keep praying for laborers to be sent forth. • Then they will be brought into the kingdom of God.

• That is how to scripturally change cities and nations, and because it is based solidly on God’s Word, God will bring increase (1 Cor.3:6)

• Ken E. Hagin

Page 18: Church prayer strategy

Seed: The Word or People?• The WORD Luke 8:11 KJV

• (11)Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.• CHIDREN OF GOD Matthew 13:38 KJV

• (38) The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;

Page 19: Church prayer strategy

HOW ?• John 1:14 KJV

• (14) And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

• You are the word going to work or ministry, The kingdom is forged in the world [Egypt] not in the church.

The like as principle:

MEN & Rain• Jude 1:4 & 12 KJV (4) For there are certain

men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men…(12) These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;

The Basis of Our Faith

Corporate and Individual Spiritual Growth and Development

3 John 2 2 Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and

be in health, just as your soul prospers. We are born again in birth by travail

Page 23: Church prayer strategy

The Basis of Our Faith

• Isaiah 66:8• 8 Who has heard

such a thing? Who has seen such things? Shall the earth be made to give birth in one day? Or shall a nation be born at once? For as soon as Zion was in labor, She gave birth to her children.

Page 24: Church prayer strategy

The Basis of Our Faith

• 1 Peter 1:23• 23 having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through

the word of God which lives and abides forever,• We mature by travail• Galatians 4:19

• 19 My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you,

Page 25: Church prayer strategy

Ephesians1:17-23• 17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to

you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, 18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is

the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us

who believe, according to the working of His mighty power

Page 26: Church prayer strategy

• Ephesians 1:17-23 • 20 which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and

seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.22 And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church,23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

Page 27: Church prayer strategy

Ephesians 1:17-23 Paraphrase would be to give unto our spirits wisdom and revelation

in the knowledge of Him Wisdom is the correct or proper administration of knowledge, Understanding has to do with your ability to comprehend, that’s why

you had comprehension tests are designed to test your understanding. Knowledge gives us the tools we need but wisdom is when and how,

the skill to use them

Page 28: Church prayer strategy

Ephesians 1:17-23 Amp.

• Ephesians 1:18 Amplified• 18 By having the eyes of your heart flooded with light, so that you

can know and understand the hope to which he has called you,• Remember he is the prince of darkness and therefore works in the

area of un-enlightenment, ignorance or lack of knowledge.• To know the power He has made available to us who believe!

Page 29: Church prayer strategy

• Ephesians 3:14-21• 14 For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord

Jesus Christ,15 from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts

through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love,

Page 30: Church prayer strategy

• Ephesians 3:14-21• 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and

depth and height—19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. 20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly

abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

Page 31: Church prayer strategy

Sustained Motivation by the Spirit of Might.

Ephesians 3:16

16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man,

Submitting your self to allow Gods love to determine our reaction.

When you face a situation in an evil day you have 2 options to react with old nature and respond or to allow the Spirit of Might in the love of God to determine your action

Page 32: Church prayer strategy

Ephesians 3:14-21

• It allows you to step out of the manipulation of the moment and recognize what is going on in you and in others.

• You then can respond with the wisdom of the God to counteract the moment and know what's in you that

prompted a reaction.• Instead of judging people or yourself get into the Love of

God and learn from the situation.

Page 33: Church prayer strategy

Ephesians 3:14-21• God’s Destination is to be

like Jesus and Act not React• 18 may be able to

comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height—19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God

• Ephesians 4:13• 13 till we all come to the

unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; [Maturity]

Page 34: Church prayer strategy

Philippians 1:9-11

• 9 And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment,10 that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the

day of Christ,11 being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory

and praise of God.

Page 35: Church prayer strategy

Philippians 1:9-11• Romans 5:5• 5 Now hope does not

disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

• Like a baby that love shed abroad in our hearts must grow and develop in knowledge and in judgment or discernment.

• Notice the purpose to approve or only do the things that are Excellent. What does that mean to us.

Page 36: Church prayer strategy

Philippians 1:9-11

• EXCELLENCE. (2 Cor. 4:7) huperbole (hoop-er-bol-ay); Strong’s #5236: From huper, “beyond,” and ballo, “to throw”; hence, a throwing beyond. The primary idea is that of excellence, superiority, excess, preeminence.

• Dedicate yourself to excellence in the field in which God called you so that He can weave with and into that preparation the supernatural anointing that takes you beyond.

Page 37: Church prayer strategy

Sincere The quality or state of being sincere : honesty of mind : freedom from hypocrisy

Luke 12:1-3

In the meantime, when an innumerable multitude of people had gathered together, so that they trampled one another, He began to say to His disciples first of all, “Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. 2 “For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known. 3 “Therefore whatever you have spoken in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have spoken in the ear in inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops

Page 38: Church prayer strategy

And without Offence

• Luke 17:1-6• Then He said to the disciples,

“It is impossible that no offenses should come, but woe to him through whom they do come!

• 2 “It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.

• 3 “Take heed to yourselves. If your brother sins against you, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him.

Page 39: Church prayer strategy

And without Offence

• 4 “And if he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times in a day returns to you, saying, ‘I repent,’ you shall forgive him.”

• 5 And the apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith.”

• 6 So the Lord said, “If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.

• That’s why this is important!

Page 40: Church prayer strategy

Fruits of Righteousness• 11 being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus

Christ, to the glory and praise of God.• John 15:7-8• 7 “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask

what you desire, and it shall be done for you.8 “By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.

• And the Fruit of the Spirit.

Page 41: Church prayer strategy

Colossians 1:9-18 9 For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; 10 that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11 strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; 12 giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. 13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love

Page 42: Church prayer strategy

Colossians 1:9-18 14 in whom we have redemption

through His blood, the forgiveness of sins. 15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. 18 And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.

Page 43: Church prayer strategy

Wisdom and Understanding.

10 that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him

Page 44: Church prayer strategy

Galatians 5:16-20

16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit

against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. 19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20

idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies,

Page 45: Church prayer strategy

Galatians 5:21-2521 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Page 46: Church prayer strategy

Walk Worthy Isaiah 40:28-31

28 Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. 29 He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength.30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, 31 But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.

MIGHT AND LIGHT11 strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for

the Son of His loveNotice its light versus darkness again.

Page 48: Church prayer strategy

Colossians 4:12

• Colossians 4:12• 12 Epaphras, who is one of

you, a bondservant of Christ, greets you, always laboring fervently for you in prayers, that you may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.

• Notice Stand Perfect or Matured

• Note Complete or lacking nothing in the will of God.

Page 49: Church prayer strategy

Perfect or Matured• 1 Thessalonians 3:10-13• 10 night and day praying exceedingly that we may see your face

and perfect what is lacking in your faith? 11 Now may our God and Father Himself, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way to you.

• Perfect does not denote absolute sinless-ness, but carries the idea of being fully developed or mature

• What you need to mature, God has to send to you.

Page 50: Church prayer strategy

Complete or lacking nothing• James 1:2-4• 2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall

into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing

• Complete underscores the thought of fullness and wholeness

Page 51: Church prayer strategy

Perfect and Complete

Note the play of words, perfect and complete. This means you can be

perfect or matured and incomplete, meaning you may have grown up and

be developed but can have parts missing or immature and complete,

which is being fully developed and yet undeveloped mentally. God wants both.

We are often challenged to do “great things” for God. Actually God is more pleased when we do small things for

him out of loving obedience. They may be unnoticed by others, but God

notices them and considers them as acts of worship

God wants us to be good Fathers and good pastors etc

Page 52: Church prayer strategy

1 Thessalonians 3:10-1310 night and day praying exceedingly

that we may see your face and perfect what is lacking in your faith?

11 Now may our God and Father Himself, and our Lord Jesus Christ,

direct our way to you.

12 And may the Lord make you increase and abound in love to one another and to all, just as we do to

you,

13 so that He may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming

of our Lord Jesus Christ with all His saints.

Page 53: Church prayer strategy

The Theology of HolinessThe theology of the Book of Leviticus links the idea of holiness to everyday life. It goes beyond the issue of sacrifice though the sacrificial worship and the work of the priests is explained with great care. The concept of holiness affects not only the relationship that each individual has with God, but also the relationship of love and respect that each person must have for his neighbor.

Page 54: Church prayer strategy

The Theology of Holiness• The code of holiness permeates

the work because each individual must be pure even as God Himself

is pure and because the purity of each individual is the foundation of the holiness of the entire covenant

community. • The teaching of Jesus Christ,

“Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them,

for this is the Law and the Prophets” (Matt. 7:12), reflects the

text of Leviticus 19:18, “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

Page 55: Church prayer strategy

The Key

The Key to a successful Apostolic Ministry with supernatural manifestation of Divine Healing is soul travail and intercessory prayer full of faith and Compassion.

Our ministries today have been hindered by this singular component of Love and compassion.

“Blameless in Holiness.” is love to one another and towards all men.

Page 56: Church prayer strategy

2 Thessalonians 1:11-12

• 11 Therefore we also pray always for you that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of His goodness and the work of faith with power,

• 12 that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Page 57: Church prayer strategy

Another Translation…2 Thessalonians 1:11-1211 And so we keep on praying for you, that our God will make you worthy of the life to which he called you. And we pray that God, by his power, will fulfill all your good intentions and faithful deeds. 12 Then everyone will give honor to the name of our Lord Jesus because of you, and you will be honored along with him. This is all made possible because of the undeserved favor of our God and Lord, Jesus Christ.

New Living Translation,

Page 58: Church prayer strategy

CALLING!

John 17:44 I brought glory to you here on earth by doing everything

you told me to do. By taking the word called out of a ministry context to

include our everyday life, talents and skills the prayer Paul prayed and taught becomes more real and

significant. Therefore we also pray always for you that our God would

count you worthy of this calling

Page 59: Church prayer strategy

Goodness• ………fulfill all the good

pleasure of His goodness and the work of faith with power,

• Paul's prayer here is for every good thing God has decided to do in our life to be fulfilled.

• Psalm 23:6• 6 Surely goodness and

mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever.

Page 60: Church prayer strategy

………..and the work of faith with power,James 2:26

26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

Scofields Reference Bible says Faith without corresponding action is dead.

The point here is that God would back up the corresponding action to our faith with His Power

Page 61: Church prayer strategy

God’s Glory…that the name of our Lord Jesus

Christ may be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace

of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

God is only then glorified but its because of Grace. Notice He is

glorified in you and you in Him.

2 Thessalonians 3:1-2

Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may run

swiftly and be glorified, just as it is with you, 2 and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and

wicked men; for not all have faith.

Page 62: Church prayer strategy

God’s GloryWe must pray for God’s word to have free course in our

ministry to people and in our lives.God never touches Mans free will and this is why we

must pray to be delivered from wicked and unreasonable men.

Its not everyman you can pray for and see a change.

Page 63: Church prayer strategy

2 Timothy 2:15

15 Be diligent to present yourself

approved to God, a worker who does

not need to be ashamed, rightly

dividing the word of truth.

Acts 2:22

22 “Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus

of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to

you by miracles, wonders, and signs

which God did through Him in your

midst, as you yourselves also know

Study……………

Page 64: Church prayer strategy

StudyAnd what causes our lord Jesus to demonstrate His power with

signs and miracles? We find the answer in Mark 16:20Mark 16:20

20 And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying

signs. Amen.In other words to paraphrase Jesus of Nazareth a Man who

studied to show Himself approved of God, a workman?

Page 65: Church prayer strategy

StudyRemember we are his

Workmanship created in Christ Jesus for Good works

which he prepared in advance for us to do.

Rightly dividing the word of Truth and if it can be rightly

divided it can be wrongly divided.

It is Gods word rightly divided that brings Miracles,

Wonders and SignsLord Help me to study to show

myself approved by these miracles etc but not only in

ministry but my life.
