CIGNA JPMC Bariatric Centers of Excellence AThe hospitals and facilities in this directory meet CIGNA HealthCare criteria for designation as a CIGNA JPMC Bariatric Center of Excellence. Our certification process was conducted by medical executives and clinical specialists. Facilities that submitted applications for certification were assessed against a series of strict criteria developed in accordance with guidelines from the National Institutes of Health, the American Society for Bariatric Surgeons, and the American College of Surgeons. Factors that were evaluated include surgeon training and experience, volume of procedures, associated outcomes (including complication and mortality rates), implementation of a multidisciplinary patient approach, and comprehensive pre- and post-operative care. Determinations were based on a review of the quality outcomes of the care delivered as reflected in the information provided by the facility in their application for certification. Cost was not considered as part of the certification process.

Our certification is important information you may wish to consider as you decide where to seek services. Remember, that while Bariatric Surgery is a covered benefit under the JPMorgan Chase Medical Plan, you must meet the medical necessity guidelines. If you satisfy the medical necessity requirements, confirm that your surgeon participates in your provider network and check if they are affiliated with a certified hospital. As a reminder, in order to receive the additional $1,000 into your MRA, you must seek services from a JPMC Bariatric Center of Excellence.
