• Simple -> Single Appliance for Network + Compute + Storage.• Agile -> Deploy at Cloud Speed.• Efficient -> Flexible deployment/diverse workloads.• Adaptable -> Scale as you Grow: Add resources non-disruptively in

small increments.• Cost Effective-> Provides easy, cost effective scale-out for dynamic

environments. Pay as you Grow vs Pay as you Go!• Cisco brings Networking into the fold of HyperConvergence to set

itself apart from competition.

HyperConverged Infrastructure: Cisco’s HyperFlex System

• Log Structured File System -> Written from scratch to allow an appended write making things like snapshots, compression and flash endurance better.

• Simplified Management -> UCS Manager and UCS Central software provide common and consistent management.

• Policy Based Management -> leverage existing global or local policies + Service Profiles & Templates.

• Automation & Security -> Policy enforced globally in cluster. When workloads move within UCS, policies move with them.

• Out of Box Hybrid Cloud -> Capable of delivering out of box cloud hybrid cloud

• API Support -> Has extensive API support for now and future use cases as well.

• Data Optimization -> Inline De-duplication and Compression

Cisco HyperFlex Systems: Configuration

• Minimum of n+1 nodes required where n>=3• Cisco supports minimum of 3+1 configuration ( 4 hosts minimum)

• Each node has a copy of the VM

• No data is moved over network when doing vmotion

• Less Network utilization + increased efficiency

• Faster batch cloning and snapshots.

• Each host has 1 controller VM and IOVisor• Each write is intercepted and written to

all master nodes in the cluster.• Data is written to SSD then moved over to

HDD as it gets cold for storage.• Hot Data is moved to SSD from HDD for

faster reads.

• Revolutionizes data storage for hyperconverged infrastructure deployments.

• A purpose-built, high-performance distributed file system with a wide array of enterprise-class data management services.

• Redefines distributed storage technology.• All – while leveraging compute layer/ built on trusted

platforms like Cisco UCS and VMware.
