1 In Web of Science, click on the Cited Reference Search tab. Enter Cited Author as Blowers G*

Watch out for name variants!
Example: Ghai Y* to search for publications by GHAI Yash Pal Will get… Ghai Y, Ghai YG, Ghai YH, Ghai YP But will miss out … Ghai P, Yash G
Watch out for authors with the same name format!
Example: Ho D to search for publications by David Ho Will get publications by... Ho David Ho Danny Ho Dean ...

Watch out for any data variations / error!

Tick the checkboxes for those articles that belong to the cited author. Note: 1. More than one author may bear the name beginning with “Blowers G”. 2. If all publications belong to the author, click on Select Page / Select All button.
Click on Finish Search button.

On the list of citing articles, go to Refine Results > Authors Then, click on more options/ values to display all authors.
Tick the checkboxes for this author. Then, click the Exclude button.

Note: Alternatively, you can get Times cited (excluding self-citations) by doing a simple subtraction = Total no. of citing articles - citing articles authored by Blowers

Note: A citing article may have cited more than one cited work by Blowers. Therefore, this figure may be bigger than the one you’ve got in Q.3.

1. Select the appropriate institution, e.g. Univ Hong Kong
Note: Authors may have worked in another institute or have collaboration with another institute. Include those institutions where appropriate.
2. Click on Finish Now
You will get a list of publications by this author. Click on Create Citation Report.

h-Index The h index (Hirsch index) is based on the highest number of papers included that have had at least the same number of citations. E.g. An h index of 12 means that out of the total number of documents selected to produce the graph, 12 of the documents have been cited at least 12 times. For more details, read Hirsch’s article at http://arxiv.org/abs/physics/0508025 Why are the figures different from a Cited Reference Search? The Citation Report reflects citations to source items indexed in Web of Science. Results from a Cited Reference Search include citations to items not indexed in Web of Science, e.g. books, thesis.
