Willem H Buiter MD and Chief Economist, Citi

Willem Buiter joined Citi in January 2010 as Chief Economist. One of the world’s most distinguished macroeconomists, Willem previously was Professor of Political Economy at the London School of Economics and is a widely published author on economic affairs in books, professional journals and the press. Between 2005 and 2010, he was an advisor to Goldman Sachs advising clients on a global basis. Prior to this, Willem was Chief Economist for the European Bank for Reconstruction & Development between 2000 and 2005, and from 1997 and 2000 a founder external member of the Monetary Policy Committee of the Bank of England. He has been a consultant to the IMF, the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank and the Asian Development Bank, the European Commission and an advisor to many central banks and finance ministries. Willem has held a number of other leading academic positions, including Cassel Professor of Money & Banking at the LSE between 1982 and 1984, Professorships in Economics at Yale University in the US between 1985 and 1994, and Professor of International Macroeconomics at Cambridge University in the UK between 1994 and 2000. Willem has a BA degree in Economics from Cambridge University and a PhD degree in Economics from Yale University. He has been a member of the British Academy since 1998 and was awarded the CBE in 2000 for services to economics.

Tina Fordham MD and Senior Political Analyst, Citi

Tina Fordham has over a decade’s experience in international policy analysis and political risk assessment and is among the first dedicated political analysts to work on Wall Street. She joined Citi in 2003 and as Senior Global Political Analyst, focuses on the implications of macro political developments for companies and investors. Tina is a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council, a fellow of the Aspen Institute’s Socrates Society, and a member of Chatham House. Previously she served as Senior Adviser in the UK Prime Minister’s Strategy Unit and was Director of Global Political Risk at the international consultancy Eurasia Group. Tina has a Master’s degree in International Affairs from Columbia University’s School for International Public Affairs.

Luigi Pigorini is the CEO of Citi Private Bank for Europe, Middle East and Africa. Luigi has over 25 years experience in the financial sector, having started his career at Citi in 1985 as Relationship Manager in the Shipping Finance Department of Citibank’s Global Relationship Bank, and then having covered a variety of roles in fixed income, risk management, and corporate finance until 1996. Citi’s investment bank in Italy. In 1999 Luigi joined the Private Bank as head for Italy, Spain and Portugal.

Between 2004 and 2009 Luigi was Group Executive and global head for the Technology, Media and Telecom sector in Citi’s Global Corporate Bank. In 2009 he assumed the global responsibilities for the lending team of Citi Private Bank, and in October 2010 he became the CEO for Europe, Middle East and Africa. Luigi graduated from Columbia University in 1985 with a Masters in Business Administration, majoring in Finance. He also holds a BSc in Economics from Queen Mary College, University of London, where he graduated in 1983.

Stephanie Birrell LuedkeCEO Tailored Portfolio Group, Citi Private Bank

Stephanie is CEO of the Tailored Portfoilio Group, Citi’s discretionary investment manager. In this capacity, Ms. Luedke oversees the global teams responsible for managing $22 billion* in discretionary assets for Citi clients around the globe. The group offers a full suite of investment capabilities on a customized basis, which include equities, fixed income and multi-asset class investment strategies for high net worth individuals, pensions, endowments and charitable organizations.

Prior to joining Citi, Ms. Luedke was Executive Vice President of Investment Management at Fiduciary Trust Company International, a wholly owned subsidiary of Franklin Templeton, where she oversaw all aspects of investment management,

investment administration, performance evaluation and risk management. She was a member of the Management Committee, Officers’ Executive Committee, Asset Allocation Committee, and she co-chaired the Trust Investment Review Committee. During her tenure at Fiduciary Trust, Ms. Luedke played a key leadership role in developing the company’s investment capabilities, strategies and policies.

Prior to joining Fiduciary Trust in 2001, Ms. Luedke was Vice President at Credit Suisse Asset Management. Her previous professional experience also includes roles at Fidelity Management & Research in the Fund Analysis Group, INVESCO Management & Research in the Quantitative Equity Group, and Coopers & Lybrand in Audit.

Ms. Luedke received her B.A. in Economics and Mathematics from St. Lawrence University. She also studied Accounting at the University of Southern California as part of the Coopers & Lybrand Business Assurance Training Program, and Economics at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. She is a chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charterholder and a member of the NY Society of Security Analysts and the CFA Institute.

desk steering committee which focused on risk, proprietary strategies and technology. He moved to the buy side in 2004 assuming various Head of Trading and Risk responsibilities at a number of firms.

He joined Citi in September 2008. In 2009, Antonin synergized the trading across all products and asset classes within the Equity floor. He was heavily involved in all strategic principal and client risk activities being made Co-Head of EMEA Equities at the end of January 2010.

In May 2011 Antonin became Global Head of Equity Trading Strategy. This role primarily co-ordinates Citi’s risk and information in order to produce unified content which will bring together our regional strategy teams and drive our vision of one client offering. He spearheads a new Global trading-oriented strategy initiative, with an objective to provide investors with actionable trade ideas and insights on the equity and the volatility markets. Antonin’s teams focus on understanding how macroeconomic events, investor positioning, fundamental factors and special situations can be implemented via options strategies — single name or index, light exotics as well as ETFs and delta-1 thematic baskets. The Equity Strategy teams work very closely with our CRD unit.

Hans LorenzenDirector and Head of European IG Credit Products Strategy

Hans has worked in Credit Strategy for the past nine years and specialises in flow credit products and relative value. His recommendations can be found in publications

such as the European Credit Outlook and the Credit Weekly. Hans joined Citi in 2007 from BNP Paribas having also worked for ABN AMRO in London. Prior to that he has worked at the Danish central bank and the Danish Ministry of Finance. Hans has a Master’s degree in economics from the University of Copenhagen and a Master’s degree in European Political Integration from the LSE.

Dr. Valentin MarinovDirector and Head of European G10 FX Strategy, Citi

Dr. Valentin Marinov is based in London. Citi was recently named number 1 in FX Research and Strategy by FX Week and number 2 in the Euromoney poll on G10 Research. Valentin frequently meets with FX professionals and investors outside of the FX client base to discuss global macro and asset market developments.

Valentin publishes frequently in CitiFX Strategy publications and is a frequent consultant to Citi’s internal and external clients on how macroeconomic policy, regulation and asset markets affect FX markets. His expertise is on the Eurozone and EUR as well as other European currencies like GBP, CHF, SEK and NOK.

Valentin joined Citi in 2010 from Societe Generale where he worked as a senior G10 FX strategist. Prior to that Valentin worked from 2005 to 2009 as FX strategist at Dresdner Kleinwort and from 2001 to 2005 as lecturer in Finance and Economics at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University.

Valentin has a PhD in Finance and Economics from Johann Wolfgang University in Frankfurt, Germany.
