Wow…. Summer went by fast.

Our hope is that we saw you in one of our various summer camp programs or at our swim lessons or in your parks or trails or at Deer Hollow Farm or at Cuesta, Rengstorff, Shoreline Park or Thursday Night Live, Plaza Palooza and 4th of July celebration. Hope you had a great summer!

Now it is time to find an activity, program or an event for the fall. Review this Activity Guide; I am sure you will find something.

What’s New….

The View Teen Center: It is under construction and look for a fall Grand Opening. We are excited about the programs that are lining up.

Shoreline Athletic Fields: Also under construction, but will take a little longer. It is scheduled for opening next year at this time.

Youth Advisory Committee (YAC)

The Youth Advisory Committee meets on the 1st and 3rd Monday from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Mountain View Community Center,

201 South Rengstorff Avenue.

The Youth Advisory Committee consist of 15 members and 9 members-at-large, all of which are Mountain View residents

enrolled in grades 7th through 12th.

Meetings are open to the public and visitors are welcome.

The Community Services Agency offers an emergency Assistance Program that provides one-time financial assistance with rent, one-time financial assistance with PG&e bills, a Food and Nutrition Center (supplemental food program open Monday through Friday), backpacks and school supplies, dental and vision care (including eyeglasses) for uninsured children, holiday bags and toy distribution, medical prescription assistance for uninsured children and adults, and fee waivers for recreation programs.

Recreation Class Financial Assistance Program (FAP)The City provides eligible, low-income Mountain View families limited financial assistance to register children for recreation classes in order to enjoy the benefits of recreation. To qualify, applicants must be a Mountain View resident and qualify through the Community Services Agency (CSA) screening process (subject to Santa Clara County HUD guidelines). The original CSA Financial Assistance Form must be submitted each year at the first time of registration for recreation classes. Upon eligibility, recipients will be allowed to register for a maximum of $400 or $800 worth of classes.

Withdrawals made less than five business days prior to the start date of a class will have double the cost of the class subtracted from the customer’s • FAP allocation. No amount will be returned to the remaining FAP balance once it has been applied towards class registration, unless the class is cancelled by the Recreation Division. A $10 out-of-pocket fee shall be charged per transaction.Requests for transfers, if space is available, MUST be made no less than three business days before the first day of the transfer out class. • A $10 out-of-pocket fee shall be charged per transaction.FAP recipients who do not attend the first day of a class for which they are registered will be automatically withdrawn, have double the cost of the • class subtracted from their FAP allocation and charged a $10 processing fee (must be paid out-of-pocket). FAP participants must contact the Recreation Division before the start of the first day of each session to report absences. If contact is not made, the FAP participant may be withdrawn.FAP is good for one year (September 1 through August 31) and does not apply to Adult Classes, Golf, Tennis, Lap Swims, and Special events.•

BBQ ReservationsSummer is already behind us, but the 2014 BBQ season is still going strong! Group BBQ areas at Cuesta and Rengstorff Parks can be reserved through October 31 for everything from your family picnic to corporate gathering. Reservations can only be made by Mountain View residents and businesses and must be made at least two days prior to your event. Please e-mail [email protected] for more information.

Already planning ahead to 2015? BBQ reservations for the 2015 BBQ season will begin on Tuesday, March 3, 2015.

General Use NotificationGroups of 50 or more that wish to use any City of Mountain View Park (with the exception of BBQ reservations) are required to obtain a General Use Notification. Applications for these permits must be made with the Facility Reservations Office at least two weeks in advance. A $64 fee applies if your permit is approved.

Facilities

Located conveniently in Rengstorff Park, this facility features a variety of different rooms for all types of events. The Auditorium is perfect for social gatherings and large seminars, while there are different size auxiliary rooms for family birthdays and other functions that require a private space. This facility has a max occupancy ranging from 25 to 200 depending on the room.

The Historic Adobe Building, located just outside of Downtown Mountain View, features a large main hall with an adjacent outdoor patio/lawn area. This facility is perfect for intimate weddings, meetings, and other social gatherings. This facility has a max occupancy of 100 people.

The Senior Center is another facility that can accommodate a diverse range of events ranging from small meetings to large-scale social gatherings. The Main Social Hall at this facility is perfect for weddings, birthday parties, and memorials and has an adjacent outdoor patio area. This facility has a max occupancy ranging from 25 to 200 depending on the room.

This holiday season, all children who are residents of

Mountain View can put together their wish lists and send

them to Santa! The City of Mountain View Youth Advisory

Committee will assist Santa Claus by writing a personal and

appropriate response to your child's letter. Sending a letter

is free and is available to Mountain View residents only.

There are two easy ways for Santa to receive letters:

Santa is ready to make his yearly

visits to Mountain View residents on Tuesday, December 16, and Wednesday, December 17. Santa will spend 15 minutes in your home visiting children and spreading holiday cheer! The cost for this program is $30, and all visits will be made between 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. Beginning Wednesday, November 12, at 8:30 a.m., Mountain View residents can sign up for a visit at the Mountain View Community Center.

Santa will only have time to visit Mountain View residents (please review accepted proofs of residency under Registration Information on Page 20). Individuals who own the home where the visit will take place must be the person to register. To allow Santa enough time to spend with everyone, parties must be limited to a maximum of eight children. No adult parties, please. Due to the amount of people who may be registering, please allow for time during the registration process.

This creative play-based preschool program is designed to meet the developmental needs of the “whole child.” The curriculum centers on the vital social opportunities children need in order to grow emotionally, cognitively, and kinesthetically. AdultsThe City of Mountain View has two gymnasium facilities available for rental for activities such as basketball, volleyball, futsal, dance groups, etc. Both gyms are available for rental Monday to Friday from 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturdays, and 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sundays. Rental applications are accepted four times per year: November (January through March use), February (April through September use), May (July through September use), and August (October through December use). First priority is given to Mountain View residents followed by Mountain View businesses and non-residents. La Agencia de Servicios de la Comunidad ofrece un programa de servicios de emergencia que provee ayuda financiera (por una vez) para el pago de la renta y PG&e. También tiene un centro de alimentos y nutrición el cual está abierto de lunes a viernes. Otros servicios incluyen mochilas y materiales escolares; cuidado óptico (incluyendo lentes) y dental para niños sin seguro médico; distribución de juguetes; ayuda con receta médica para niños y adultos sin aseguranza, y ayuda financiera para programas de recreación.

Dia de Ohlone en la Granja de Deer Hollowel dia de Ohlone se celebrará en la Granja Deer Hollow el sábado, 11

de octubre de 12:00 del medio dia a las 3:00 de la tarde.

Traiga a su familia y disfrute de esta oportunidad única de explorar la replica del pueblo de Ohlone y aprender sobre los primeros habitantes en el Área de la Bahía. Habrá una gran variedad de actividades como moler maíz, hacer cuerdas, perforar conchas, juegos y pintura de cara. También tendremos una demostración de técnicas para usar el arco y

Infracción por Mal Comportamiento: Los participantes que reciban 3 infracciones por mal comportamiento se le suspenderá del programa en el que estén participando. Se le reembolsará parte de la cuota, a reserva de lo que decida el supervisor.

Cuota por Recoger a los Niños Tarde: Los padres/tutores que lleguen tarde a recoger a sus hijos de cualquier programa de recreación se les cobrarán $6 por cada 15 minutos tarde. Todo aquel que tenga 3 infracciones por llegar tarde se les suspenderá del programa.

Class Cancellation: Classes not meeting minimum registration levels will be cancelled. Class Attendance and Registration: Registration is required in order to attend or participate in a class. No registration is accepted in class. Fees are not prorated and no make-up classes are offered for missed classes.

Waitlist: Your name will be placed on a waitlist if your first or alternate class choices are full. Once an opening becomes available, the first person on the waitlist will be contacted and given a 24-hour deadline to submit registration and payment. If registration and payment are not submitted by the given deadline, you will be removed from the waitlist and the next person on the list will be contacted.

Late Pick-up: Parents/guardians arriving late to pick up their child from any recreation program will be assessed a $6 fee per 15 minutes late. Participants receiving three late pick-up fees will be removed from the specific program on the fourth late pick-up.

Proof of Mountain View Residency: Acceptable forms of proof include: Current California Driver’s License or Identification, a Recent Utility Bill, Bank Statement, or Rental Agreement on Property Management letterhead with a current address. Temporary DMV Change of Address cards, Post Office boxes, personal checks, letters, or flyers are not acceptable. The proof of residence must match the name and address on the registration form and be submitted once a year.

Age/Birth Date: To register, participants must be the required minimum/maximum age by the first day of class. All participants 17 years of age or younger must provide their date of birth. Proof of age may be required.

Behavior Violation: Participants receiving three behavior violations will be removed from the specific program. A partial class refund may be granted at the discretion of the program supervisor.
