B lu e Ti c ke t Z o ne Welcome to the thirteenth edition of our pocket-sized guide to Whippet bus services. Please make sure you keep a copy handy as you never know when our buses might come in useful. We operate a number of local bus services in Cambridgeshire. Please look at the network diagram to find the services that best meet your needs. There’s also an index of places served below. Changes to routes since last time: A new timetable has been introduced on routes X3, restoring a link to Long Road Sixth Form College on weekdays. Route 62 will no longer operate, as part of our plan to simplify buses in St Neots. Route 61 is diverted in Eynesbury to replace part of the 62. Whippet buses no longer run along Queens Gardens, Sandfields Road or Duck Lane. Route 61 towards Eynesbury now uses stop A at Market Square instead of stop E. Route 63 towards Eynesbury will continue to use stop E. The afternoon school journey on route 63 is replaced by a new 61X, which operates via the town centre instead of along the A428. The first journey on route 400 will start at Easton at 07:40 on schooldays. The bus will call at Hinchingbrooke School Bus Park on schooldays and the afternoon schoolday journey will now terminate at Easton instead of Grafham. Routes 31, 75 and 196 are no longer operated by Whippet. A new timetable for the Universal (route U) is expected to commence during October. Please see our website - www.busuniversal.com nearer the time for full details. Changes to fares since last time: The Huntingdon Week Rover is now £13.50, but users of our new mobile phone App can continue to purchase these tickets at the old £12.50 price. The St Neots Day Rover is now £2.70 and the St Neots Week Rover is now £11. Users of our new mobile phone App can purchase 10 St Neots Day Rovers for £25 and the St Neots Week Rover for the old £10 price. Other friendly pets are also carried free, so long as they do not present a hazard or disturbance to customers. If another animal is already on board then the driver may refuse travel (excluding guide dogs and assistance dogs). Guide dogs in training are also permitted, subject to the driver’s discretion. All dogs must be on a lead, should sit on the floor but not blocking the aisle and on double-deckers should be taken upstairs. Adult fares are issued to all passengers aged 16 or over, unless in education and can present a valid NUS Card or other appropriate ID. We do not permit standard bicycles on board our vehicles. However, folded bicycles are allowed so long as they do not present a risk to other passengers, their property or our vehicle. Owners of collapsible bikes should use a bike bag to prevent sharp edges from being exposed. Folded bicycles must not be taken upstairs on double-deckers. Child single / return fares (including 10-Journey tickets) are not available before 09:00 on Mondays to Fridays (including school holidays). Child Rover Tickets are valid at any time. There are no restrictions on Public Holidays. Up to 2 children aged under 5 (who do not occupy a seat to the exclusion of a fare-paying passenger) travel free with anybody who purchases an adult ticket or has a valid adult pass (including English National Concessionary Passes). English National Concessionary Passes are valid for free off-peak travel. More details can be found online at: www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/info/20017/buses/124/free_bus_pass Passengers must be in possession of a valid ticket or pass throughout their journey, otherwise the Standard Fare (£20) will be payable. We accept cash only on board our buses and coaches. Contrary to canine belief, dog biscuits and bones are not legal tender. Our drivers give change but they only start their shift with a limited amount and this can get used up quickly. Drivers are not obliged to accept large amounts of coins above the standard allowances. These are: 20p made up of 1p and 2p coins; £5 made up of 5p and 10p coins; £10 made up of 20p and 50p coins. Drivers should also adhere to these limits when giving change. Please refrain from bringing hot food aboard our vehicles, as it can be unpleasant for fellow passengers. Whippets can also become very excited by the tempting smells. If you bring a hot drink on board please make sure that it has a suitable lid as drivers may otherwise refuse entry. We do not want to refuse alcohol aboard our buses, but customers will be asked to leave the vehicle if their behaviour becomes aggressive, loud or generally unpleasant to other customers. All of our buses have space for one wheelchair user but we cannot guarantee this facility. We will carry most wheelchairs and electric wheelchairs up to 700mm wide, 1200mm long (including footplate) and a total weight of 300kg (including the occupant). If the wheelchair space is already occupied by a baby buggy or a sleeping dog then the driver will ask for the space to be vacated. However, we cannot force customers to move or leave the bus. We will always try our best to get everybody where they need to go. Mobility scooters are not normally carried as they are outdoor vehicles intended for use as an alternative to public transport for short trips. They are generally less manoeuvrable and some cannot be used as a seat on a vehicle because of their instability and difficulty in providing appropriate restraint systems for both the scooter and user. We must be barking! Purple One is the name of our special one-journey ticket within the City (purple) zone. Purple One £1 Students* * NUS Card or other appropriate ID required. Welcome to the thirteenth edition of our pocket-sized guide to Whippet bus services. Please make sure you keep a copy handy as you never know when our buses might come in useful.

We operate a number of local bus services in Cambridgeshire. Please look at the network diagram to find the services that best meet your needs. There’s also an index of places served below.

Changes to routes since last time:A new timetable has been introduced on routes X3, restoring a link to Long Road Sixth Form College on weekdays.

Changes to fares since last time:The Huntingdon Week Rover is now £13.50, but users of our new mobile phone App can continue to purchase these tickets at the old £12.50 price.

The St Neots Day Rover is now £2.70 and the St Neots Week Rover is now £11. Users of our new mobile phone App can purchase 10 St Neots Day Rovers for £25 and the St Neots Week Rover for the old £10 price.

Real TimeInformationScreens

Many bus stops across Cambridgeshire have Real Time Information (RTI) displays provided by the County Council and all our Whippets are microchipped so they can be tracked.

The times are displayed in two different ways. If the RTI display shows “23min” (as in the photograph) then this means the bus is predicted to arrive in 23 minutes. The bus has been detected using GPS tracking and it is on time. The time shown will reduce as the bus gets closer. If the time shown is just the scheduled time, e.g “14:08" then the bus has not been detected. This does not necessarily mean the bus won’t arrive at 14:08 - it might be because the bus has not entered service yet. Or it could be a defective piece of equipment on board the bus or an error in the information which controls the system. Under this scenario, the journey will disappear from the RTI display at 14:09 as the system assumes the bus is running on time.
