INSPECTION SUMMARY(continued)
A record of a three year cathodic protection recertification performed on 8/24/2010 was submitted for the diesel UST system.
The sub-pumps for tanks #10 & #11 are still in place with no corrosion protection (CP) and are in direct contact with water.
It appears that the sub-pump for tank #12 has been removed.
The initially designed method of CP is isolation from contact with soil and/or water via dry sumps.
With the sub-pump sumps containing water that is in contact with metal portions of the system CP is not considered to be
The options of attaining compliance with this issue are as follows:
Implement an adequate method of CP.
Restore the sub-pump sumps to their designed water tight condition and maintain them to keep the sub-pumps isolated from
contact with soil and/or water.
Remove all of the metal components in the sub-pump sumps to avoid further corrosion.
Comments:
properly maintained in accordance with the requirements of tanks systems in "Temporary Out Of Use" status.
The next three year CP recertification of the diesel UST system is due by 8/24/2013.
