1 CLASS 3 - PLANTS SECTION 1. GARDEN - (9 - 21 as of January 1/16) The Exhibition Item for the Garden Project will be 2 varieties of vegetables on one tray (refer to members’ guide as to type and number of vegetables from each variety that is required). EXCEPT at Rural Youth Fair where the total scores from three varieties of vegetables will determine the placings. NOTE: For Rural Youth Fair, members must exhibit the Pest Control Plan (in a folder with pictures) Garden Plan, Weed Collection and 3 types of vegetables. 4-H certificates and ribbons will be mailed out after the fair. CLASS 3 - PLANTS

SECTION 1. GARDEN - (9 - 21 as of January 1/16)

The Exhibition Item for the Garden Project will be 2 varieties of vegetables on one tray (refer to members’ guide as to type and number of vegetables from each variety that is required). NOTE: For Rural Youth Fair, members must exhibit the Judging Class Card, Report Log on Special Project and two varieties of potatoes. 4-H certificates and ribbons will be mailed out after the Fair. Leaders must call in a mark for the Tour at least one week prior to the Fair.

2. FLORICULTURE (9 - 21 as of January 1/16) Members will exhibit a flower arrangement at exhibitions EXCEPT at Rural Youth Fair where the

display box/container and a fresh flower arrangement will be the exhibition item.

NOTE: For Rural Youth Fair, members must exhibit a fresh flower arrangement, a report on special project, the garden plan and the flower box/container. 4-H Achievement Day certificates and ribbons will be mailed out after the Fair. Members will exhibit a doily that measures approximately 10.5” (27 cm) and is completed using one of the two doily patterns in the members’ project guide

CLASS 14 - MISCELLANEOUS PROJECTS

SECTION (The following 3 sections are for display only. They will not be judged.)

1. CLOVERBUD

Cloverbuds may exhibit an item they made during the year. This class will not be judged. (At the L’Exposition Agricole et le Festival Acadien de la Region Evangeline, the Cloverbud Class will be combined with the Exploring 4-H Class. Cloverbuds are not allowed to show animals. Cloverbuds will NOT receive prize money for exhibiting at exhibitions.

2. EXPLORING 4-H Members will exhibit one of the articles made during the project. Article must be easily transported between fairs. (Please note, this class will not be judged, a special ribbon will be awarded.) 3 JUNIOR LEADERSHIP

Members will exhibit completed project book. (Please note, this class will not be judged. It is intended to show the general public and other 4-H members and leaders the quality and quantity of work completed by 4-H junior leaders). ____________________________________________________________________________________

12. OUTDOOR SERIES - WILDLIFE - Junior Members (ages 9 - 11 as of January 1/16) Members must exhibit a bird feeder. 13. OUTDOOR SERIES - WILDLIFE - Intermediate Members (ages 12—14 as of January 1/16)

Members must exhibit a cast of an animal track. Cast should be easy to distinguish as the trace of a specific animal. Plaster should be even with no cracks or air bubbles. Rough edges, lumps, etc. should be smooth and cast should be free of excess dirt. 14. OUTDOOR SERIES - WILDLIFE - Senior Members (ages 15—21 as of January 1/16)

Members must exhibit a Wildlife Display on a topic of his/her choice (Science Fair style) 15. OUTDOOR SERIES - FORESTRY - Junior Members (ages 9 - 11 as of January 1/16)

Members will exhibit homemade paper made from recycled newspaper, junk mail, or another kind of paper. 16. OUTDOOR SERIES - FORESRY - Intermediate Members (ages 12—14 as of January 1/16)

Members will exhibit a tree cookie. Obtain a disk from a tree. One surface must be sanded and a coat of clear varnish applied to make rings visible. Using push pins with a lettered label, affixed to each, members should label the outer bark, cambium, growth ring, sapwood and heartwood. On a separate piece of paper, give a brief explanation of each of these regions.

17. OUTDOOR SERIES - FORESTRY - Senior Members (ages 15—21 as of January 1/16) Members will exhibit a woodlot inventory. Members must take an inventory of a small woodlot. They should choose an area that is easily accessible throughout the 4-H year. Information must be compiled and presented in a binder or duotang. A map showing woodlot features and stand composition should be included. 18. OUTDOOR SURVIVAL Members will exhibit the map project. Members will choose an area that is familiar to them, such as their yard, farm or a park near their house. On an 8 1/2 x 11 inch sheet of paper, they are to draw and color a map of the area. Using this map they are going to write out and draw the directions from one point to another on your map. 19. OUTDOOR LIVING Members will exhibit a hand made fishing pole.

Members will exhibit one module activity display on a presentation board 24. CAKE DECORATING I Members will exhibit one 6” round or square foam cake, using butter cream icing and 3 tips showing the actual tip design and border of each. Members must send a freshly decorated cake to each exhibition.

Royal Icing arrangements may be reused. 25. CAKE DECORATING II

Members will exhibit one 6” round or square cake decorated using butter cream icing. Cake must display a rose or sweet pea arrangement (including leaves) and at least 1 of the borders learned in Cake Decorating I. Members must send a freshly decorated cake to each exhibition.
