Page 2: Class Review: Story Discussion of GUANINA

On Last week’s topics, we had discussed the

fairytales, legends and myths.

We read the fairytale:

The Arrogant Princess

and the legend Guanina.

Here we will discuss Guanina and

the class assignment you had to do.

Guanina

This is a legend retold on the

incident where the Taino Indians

had proven that the Spaniards

were not immortal through the

death of Diego Salcedo, they

rebelled. The legend of Guanina

tells of that rebellion.

Are there any magic or

unreal events in the

story? Explain.

Yes, there are unreal events in the

story towards the end where it says,

“a soft breeze gently moves the leaves

and whispering sounds are heard, then

Guanina and Sotomayor come out of

the tomb to look at the evening star

and kiss each other under the light of

the moon.”

What is the lesson learned?

Absolute trust is hard to achieve.

Do not trust in appearances.

Don’t waist your time on revenge you’ll only hurt the ones you

love.
