Courageously Living the Gospel
Missionary Discipleship Prayer
As we intensify our personal relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ, we should add mortification and sacrifice to our spiritual way of life. These practices are not confined to Lent. Virtuous living and giving something to God each day are habits that can be achieved through desire and prayer. Sincerely pray one Our Father daily for the grace to follow these practices.
Our Lady of Grace
Missionary Discipleship
During the month of May...
The Rosary will be recited at the Grotto:
Monday – Friday at 6:00 pm.
Please bring a chair. We are observing social distancing (6 ft. away), limit of 10 people and you must wear a mask. For any questions, please call Marge – 746-3677.
Intro: This year the solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord is celebrated this Sunday instead of the Seventh Sunday of Easter.
First Reading: Acts 1: 1-11 We have here the description of how Jesus ascended before the very eyes of his apostles and disciples.
Second Reading: Eph 1: 17-23 Paul in this letter delineates how God the father glorified his Son through his sufferings and giving him the honor and glory.
Gospel: Matt 28: 16-20 Matthew tells us the last mandate of Jesus to his apostles and disciples which is now being continued through the evangelization efforts of the Church.
Spiritual Communion Prayer
My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love you above all things and I desire to receive you in my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive you sacramentally,
Come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace you as if you were already there And unite myself wholly to you.
Never permit me to be separated from you. Amen.

Prayer is the foundation of our faith and stewardship. Prayer is always the first best option in any situation, not just the last resort. Pray for friends and family and for those that don’t treat you very well. Pray to give praise, to thank and to ask God for help. Pray to see what God wants you to do with the gifts He has given you.
Discipleship through Stewardship and
Sacrificial Giving Fr. Erwin and Msgr. Cesar continue to celebrate Masses privately for all of

Guidelines to be Joyfully Present for Daily Mass
We are so happy to be able to welcome you back to the public celebration of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass! Thank you for being patient while we all adjust to our new guidelines that will help keep us all safe and healthy. While we are currently only able to gather for daily mass (Monday-Friday, 9 AM), we wait hopefully for the time when our Sunday masses will be public again and we can celebrate together in person.
Please read the following guidelines: • Stay home if you are ill, elderly, anxious or have underlying health conditions. Bishop Parkes has dispensed all Catholics in the Diocese of St. Petersburg from their Sunday Mass obligation until further notice.
• Maintain six feet of physical distance from others who are not from the same household at all times while in the church or on church property.
• For daily mass, the two doors closest to the office will be the only ones open to help control traffic. A hospitality minister will open the door, so you do not have to touch it. Pews will be marked off to maintain appropriate physical distancing. Please follow directions.
• Please be patient as we restrict attendance at daily Mass in church to 25% capacity. If you arrive after we reach capacity at daily Mass, a hospitality minister will ask you to come back to Mass on another day. Meanwhile, we will continue to live-stream daily and Sunday Masses. These videos will remain on our website and Facebook pages and can be accessed and viewed later.
• Live-streaming begins at 15 minutes before mass. An announcement will be made when the mic goes live. We strongly encourage you to participate in the mass but if you are sitting anywhere near the camera, ALL sounds will be heard.
• Use a face mask or face covering. Masks are not optional. We wear masks during this pandemic to help protect people around us.
• Refrain from physical contact, such as holding hands during the Our Father or the sign of peace.
• Due to difficulty in accessing hand sanitizer for bulk usage, we ask the parishioners to strongly consider bringing their own personal supply of hand sanitizer with them to mass. Use before receiving Communion.
• During communion, we ask that you keep a 6-foot distance in the communion line. Please stand on the mark and move forward as the space is vacated. Holy Communion will only be distributed on the hand to protect the priest, eucharistic ministers and your fellow parishioners. Make sure to remove your mask BEFORE approaching the priest or eucharistic minister. Replace your mask after receiving communion. Communion will only be distributed under one species.
• There will be an Offertory Collection box located by the Paschal Candle in front of the ambo. Prayerfully consider placing your offertory envelopes in this box as you enter church or as you leave mass. You may also give via your bank if you use online banking or through the diocesan website at: https://www.dosp.org/stewardship/supporting-your-parish/. This link and directions are also available through the Our Lady of Grace website and in the bulletin.
• As we exit the church, please remember to keep an appropriate amount of space between people. We know we have not seen each other in a while, and it is tempting to linger and socialize but try to do so outside or in more open areas to maintain social distancing.
Remember that this is new to everyone and we are all trying to keep each other safe and healthy so that we may continue enjoying community and celebrating together. Extend grace and patience to each other, including to the lay ministers and your fellow parishioners. Be mindful and considerate of all those around you. Welcome back!

Sunday Gospel Reflections
from Bishop Parkes
Sunday, May 24, 2020 The Ascension
Do you have the courage to share the Good News?
This Sunday the Church celebrates the Ascension of the Lord. In the profession of faith, which we say each Sunday during the Mass, we profess that Jesus ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father, and that He will come in glory to judge the living and the dead, and that His kingdom will have no end.
While Jesus, after His resurrection and His appearances to the apostles, did indeed ascend to the Father in heaven, He didn’t leave us alone. He gave His
followers, and us, the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, which we’ll celebrate next Sunday.
We’re currently living in this period of time between the Lord’s ascension, and His second coming in glory. Before Jesus ascended to the Father, He gave his disciples a mission. He says in today’s Gospel, “Go therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the father and of the son and of the Holy Spirit; teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” Another way of saying this would be, “Go and share the Good News of my resurrection and God’s love for us with all that you meet.”
This is our mission as well. It is through our baptism that we receive this mission, and it is through our baptism that we are commissioned, appointed, and empowered to engage in this mission of making disciples in our world today. We do so when we courageously live and preach the Gospel, through our words and actions.
This might seem like a daunting task, perhaps even too big for us to accomplish. Remember that God never asks us to do something, unless He gives us the power to do so. He has given to us the same Spirit He gave to his disciples, and it is the Spirit which guides us in our life and in this mission of spreading the Good News and making disciples. Do we have the courage to go forth and undertake this mission, like Jesus’ followers did?

Amen.
