CONGRESO: CONCEPCION CABRERA DE ARMIDA -
LAICA, MISTICA Y APOSTOL.
Salvalos!!!” A traves de ese regalo que todos
recibimos desde el bautismo, nuestras promesas bautismales:
Profetas, Reyes y Sacerdotes.
P. Armando Hernandez, MSpS.
CONGRESS: CONCEPCION CABRERA DE ARMIDA – LAY
WOMAN, MYSTIC AND APOSTLE.
During the beati!ication of Concepcion Cabrera de Armida, we
had the opportunity to participate in a Congress at the Olympic
Gymnasium “Juan de la Barrera” in Mexico City on May 3, 2019
at 3:30 pm, where it emphased on the aspects on the life of Con-
chita being of "lay woman, Mystic and Apostle" and guests
were Dr. Rocio Figueroa, writer and activist, Javier Sicilia and
Father Luis Manuel Perez. Each of them preached a particu-
lar aspect of the life, work and holiness of Concepcion Cabrera-
Conchita. Father Francisco emphasized the life of the blessed
Mexican Conchita Cabrera, saying that "this is a time of the laity
in the Church.” Dr. Figueroa mentioned that the laity of Conchi-
ta has played a role in life, knowing how to live their baptized
state and responding to the lay vocation in a world full of great
complexity, bringing to the family God's love and knowing how
to be women [and men] who recognize their humanity, but also
recognize the need for God. The writer Javier Sicilia mentioned
that Conchita "a lay woman, mother of the family, is an example
of 19th century life. A mother climbing to the altars [through]
her experience of God without ceasing to be mother, spouse."
Father Luis Manuel Perez, shared that "her being Apostle–like
radiates to the extent of bringing the Spirituality of the Cross to
so many places, that is the way to be an Apostle". Invitation to
all have a missionary spirit who is able to bring to others the
saving love of God to others through Conchita’s Motto: "Jesus
Savior of All People..."!!! "Save them!" This is the gift that all of
us received from baptism, to live and ful!ill our baptismal
promises: Prophets, Kings and Priests.
P Armando Hernandez, MSpS.

GOSPEL MEDITATION "I give you a new commandment: love one another." With these
words, Jesus sums up the law and the prophets in one concise
phrase. Love one another. After 2,000 years, you'd think we'd
have it !igured out by now! But all too often we fail in this
commandment. Perhaps we mistake "love" for mere "common
decency." Perhaps we've been betrayed, or our own visions of
love have been tarnished or misrepresented in our lives.
Blessedly, Jesus doesn't leave us without a guide.
"As I have loved you, so you also should love one another." Jesus
himself modeled what this love should look like. So what are
some of the characteristics of the love of Christ? Humility, for
one. St. Paul writes that Jesus "emptied Himself." In becoming
man, Jesus puts aside the full splendor of the Godhead. Not only
does he become human, but he takes on many of the mundane
privations of human life. He spent most of his life in relative
poverty - especially by our standards - as a common laborer.
When he began gaining popularity as a preacher, he still traveled
on foot and spent nights in other people's homes or outdoors.
Jesus' love is generous. He was always available to the crowds
and to being interrupted by people in need. He invested time in
his disciples and patiently taught them about the kingdom of
God. The love of Jesus is also courageous. He encountered many
people deemed less worthy of human respect, due to being
public sinners or having a physical or mental disability. Jesus was
brave in breaking these social boundaries to show care and
concern to the outcast. These traits are possible for us to imitate!
Indeed, we are hardly identi!iable as Christians without them.
"This is how all will know that you are my disciples, if you have
love for one another."

como yo os he amado".

EVERYDAY STEWARDSHIP - RECOGNIZE GOD
IN YOUR ORDINARY MOMENTS
I was recently reading an article about the real aspects of true
love. The psychologist writing the piece said that many people
hide behind the words "I love you." They can start believing that if
they say it enough times, it simply becomes true.
Jesus claimed that the world would know his disciples by the fact
that they loved one another. In the Church, we speak of loving one
another quite frequently. I hope that someone can tell that I am a
disciple of Jesus by the way I love others. However, that hope is
something I have to keep in the center of my mind because I fear
too often that I speak more of love than act out of love.
As Christians, we can !ind ourselves hiding behind our words. His-
tory, unfortunately, has shown us that our witness of action has
not always been profound enough. The world will surely know
whom it is we serve if we love like Jesus, we act like Jesus, and we
serve others like Jesus. Our stewardship will bear witness to the
transforming power of Jesus Christ, and we will bring others to
him. Our love will be an instrument of our evangelization. Our
words will become true, not because we said them enough, but
because they are true.

SEASONAL REFLECTION
7 Things Every High School Graduate Should Hear
¨ Live with intention. College will be full of new
opportunities. Think carefully about your priorities
for your new start.
¨ Make the right friends. There will be plenty of new
people! Concentrate on the ones who motivate you to
be a better person.
¨ It's a big world! Look for new perspectives, new
opportunities, and new ideas that push you to grow.
¨ Find a mentor. Building relationships with people
who have "been there, done that" can be a great help.
¨ Give yourself away. You may not need to volunteer
anymore, but you'll surprised what you learn, how
you grow, and who you meet when you serve.
¨ Before you go, learn how to do your laundry, address
an envelope, schedule a doctor's appointment, use
public transportation, and cook basic meals (ramen
doesn't count!).
¨ Remember that God is in control. And that's a good
thing!
