He has also served as offensive coordinator in Washington (2003), Atlanta (2007), Oakland (2010) and Cincin-nati (2014-15).

Jackson has spent the past four seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals. During that time, he helped the Bengals to two division titles and a trip to the postsea-son all four years. In 2012, he served as secondary/assistant special teams coach before coaching the running backs in 2013. Jackson spent the past two seasons (2014-15) as offensive coordinator.

With Jackson as coordinator in 2015, the Bengals offense fi nished third in the AFC in yards per play (5.7) and points per game (26.2). He was voted by the Professional Football Writers of America (PFWA) as the Co-Assistant Coach of the Year as quarterback Andy Dalton set a career high and franchise re-cord with a 106.3 rating, which led the AFC and was second in the NFL. After losing Dalton to injury in Week 14, Jackson guided quarterback A.J. McCarron to a 2-1 record in the fi nal three games of the season as the Ben-gals clinched the AFC North title. The Cincinnati running game produced two 700-yard rushers in Jeremy Hill (794) and Giovani Bernard (730) for the fi rst time since 1988. Tight end Tyler Eifert experienced a breakout season after hauling in 13 touchdown receptions, the most by a Bengals tight end in fran-chise history and the most by a Cincinnati player since 2001. Wide receiver A.J. Green added 10 receiving touchdowns on 86 receptions for 1,297 yards. Eifert, Green and left tackle Andrew Whitworth were selected to the Pro Bowl.

In Jackson’s fi rst year as offensive coordinator for Cincinnati in 2014, the run game posted its highest yards per game average (134.1) since 2000. Dalton passed for 3,398 yards and Green totaled 1,041 receiving yards. Hill led all NFL rookies with 1,124 rushing yards, the second-most by a Bengals rookie in team history.

After spending the 2010 season as the Raiders offensive coordinator, Jack-son was promoted to head coach in 2011. Oakland fi nished the year 8-8 and

tied for fi rst in the AFC West but missed the postseason via tiebreaker. The 8-8 mark was the best record by any Raiders team since 2002. The Raiders fi nished ninth in the NFL in total offense (379.5 yards per game) and seventh in rushing offense (131.9).

Before joining the Raiders, Jackson spent two seasons (2008-09) as quarter-backs coach for Baltimore, helping the Ravens advance to the playoffs both years. He was vital in the development of Joe Flacco, who was named NFL Rookie of the Year in 2008 and became the fi rst rookie quarterback to win two playoff games as the Ravens advanced to the AFC Championship game.

From 2004-06, Jackson served as the Bengals wide receivers coach, help-ing develop one of the best wide receiver tandems in NFL history with Chad Johnson and T.J. Houshmandzadeh. During that span, the two combined to average 173.3 catches, 2,363.3 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns per sea-son. In 2005, Johnson led the AFC with 1,432 receiving yards. In 2006, John-son and Houshmandzadeh became the fi rst Bengals duo to each top 1,000 receiving yards in the same season.

Jackson gained his fi rst fulltime NFL experience with Washington, where he served as the running backs coach from 2001-02, before being promoted to offensive coordinator in 2003. Under Jackson’s tutelage, running back Ste-phen Davis led the NFC with 1,432 rushing yards in 2001.

Jackson spent 14 years coaching on the college level, going from a graduate assistant at Pacifi c all the way to offensive coordinator at Southern California. He spent four seasons (1997-2000) as USC’s offensive coordinator, where he also helped to recruit and develop players, including quarterback Carson Palmer, who went on to win the Heisman Trophy and be selected No. 1 overall in the NFL draft.

He was a minority coaching fellowship intern with the Los Angeles Rams in 1990, Arizona Cardinals in 1992 and Washington Redskins in 1995. He also served as the running backs/wide receivers/special teams coach for the Lon-don Monarchs of the World League in 1991.

Born Oct. 22, 1965, Jackson was a quarterback at Pacifi c from 1985-86 and threw for 2,544 yards and 19 touchdowns. The Los Angeles native also let-tered in basketball and earned his degree in physical education.

Jackson and his wife, Michelle, have three daughters, Jordyn, Baylee and Haydyn.

BROWNS IN THE COMMUNITY

The Cleveland Browns, in partnership with United Way, CMSD and University Hospitals, are constructing a new play space at Luis Muñoz Marín School on Oct. 18. It marks the 18th one installed in Greater Cleveland through the Browns-United Way collaboration for Hometown Huddle, a national day of service when NFL teams and their local United Ways address youth health and wellness by building fi tness zones and hosting football clinics.

This year, the group , including Browns executives and Browns players, will construct a new play space, refurbish current equip-ment, resurface the outdoor basketball court and complete beauti-fi cation projects at CMSD’s Luis Muñoz Marín School.

As part of the First and Ten campaign, more than 100 volunteers will #give10 as they upgrade Luis Muñoz Marín School’s recre-ational area by building an additional new play unit, refurbishing the current recreational structure resurfacing the outdoor basket-ball court and other complementary projects to make the space more inviting for youth activity.

The Browns are dedicated to #give10 through the team’s First and Ten movement. Launched in June 2014, the Cleveland Browns First and Ten campaign is the team’s community program, es-tablished to inspire fans to volunteer in and help their communi-ties throughout the world by volunteering for 10 hours each year. Through First and Ten, Browns players, coaches, staff and fans have pledged more than 1 million hours of community service since the program’s inception. The Browns are the only NFL club to promote a long-term volunteering program that unifi es the team and its entire fan base, with the goal of impacting every individu-al’s city across the globe, as well as the franchise’s local commu-nity. All Browns fans are encouraged to join the volunteering effort by signing the First and Ten pledge on the team’s website and by sharing their stories with #give10.

The project also aligns with the Browns PLAY 60 initiative, which inspires kids to be active at least 60 minutes each day. The Browns actively bring PLAY 60 to the local communities throughout the year to ensure kids and families are learning about and taking steps toward healthy lifestyles. The Browns PLAY 60 movement, contributing to the NFL’s nationwide initiative to promote youth health and wellness by getting active at least 60 minutes each day, is in association with University Hospitals and American Dairy Association Mideast and Fuel Up to PLAY 60.

The Cleveland Browns Foundation is proud to support the 2016 Hometown Huddle. The Cleveland Browns Foundation is dedi-cated to taking a solution-based, holistic approach to ensure Northeast Ohio youth receive the education and development they need as a foundation for independence and success. As part of the Foundation’s commitment to helping eliminate barriers so that stu-dents of all backgrounds have access to high-quality education and youth development opportunities, the playground build provides children with a safe space to grow, play and learn.

Foundation announces Radiothon grantsThe Cleveland Browns Foundation announced four grant awards totaling more than $275,000 to support qualifi ed nonprofi ts and education-based organizations in Northeast Ohio that provide fi rst class education and youth development opportunities in the region.

In September, Browns fans helped raise an event record of more than $137,000 during the Third Annual Cleveland Browns Foun-dation Radiothon, hosted on Good Karma Brands’ ESPN 850 WKNR. For the second time in as many years, Dee and Jimmy Haslam announced a dollar-for-dollar match, resulting in nearly $275,000 total to help eliminate barriers so that all students have access to a high-quality education in Northeast Ohio.

It marked the third consecutive year that the fundraiser collected more than $100,000 to benefi t education and youth development in Cleveland. In the Radiothon’s three years of existence, more than $650,000 has been raised for local programs that support chil-dren from birth through college.

Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) – to support the “GET 2 SCHOOL, YOU CAN MAKE IT!” city wide atten-dance campaign, designed to help solve problems and remove bar-riers of students being chronically absent from school. The cam-paign promotes the importance of school attendance as research shows that chronically absent students have signifi cant negative impact on student test scores and graduation rates.

Shoes and Clothes for Kids – to expand distribution of school uniforms, casual clothing and school supplies to Cleveland Metro-politan School District’s (CMSD) most disadvantaged students to remove clothing as a barrier to school attendance.

Ginn Academy – to support Ginn Academy’s Life Coach pro-gram, which provides each student with a 24/7 mentor in the areas of academics, behavior, attendance and social-emotional devel-opment to serve as a link between home and school. The Ginn Academy is the fi rst all-male public high school in Ohio and 100 percent of its student body comes from low-income families.

The Centers for Families and Children – to support the imple-mentation of the 2,000 Days Pledge initiative that engages parents, teachers and communities to make a child’s fi rst 2,000 days – the time when 90 percent of brain development occurs – as impactful as possible.

EAGLES 29BROWNS 10

Sept. 11, 2016Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia, Pa.

Despite trailing by just three points in the third quarter, the Cleveland Browns fell to the Eagles, 29-10, after Philadelphia pulled away late for the season-opening victory at Lincoln Financial Field. Eagles’ rookie QB Carson Wentz got out to a fast start as he led a nine-play, 75-yard TD drive on their fi rst possession of the game. Wentz connected with WR Jordan Matthews on a 19-yard TD pass to cap the drive and take a 7-0 lead. Cleveland’s defense would bounce back including a sack from LB Christian Kirksey at the end of the fi rst quarter. In the opening minutes of the second quarter, Eagles’ K Caleb Sturgis converted a 22-yard fi eld goal attempt to give Philadelphia a 10-0 advantage. The Browns responded on the ensu-ing possession as QB Robert Griffi n III found WR Terrelle Pryor Sr. along the sideline on a 44-yard gain. Four plays later, RB Isaiah Crowell fi nished off the seven-play, 75-yard drive with a 2-yard TD run that left Cleveland trailing 10-7. Sturgis split the uprights once more at the end of the second quarter on a 38-yard fi eld goal attempt, giving the Eagles a 13-7 lead at the half. In the third quarter, the Browns cut into the lead on their fi rst drive of the half as Griffi n connected with rookie WR Corey Coleman on a 58-yard pass that would lead to K Patrick Murray capping off Cleveland’s drive with a 35-yard fi eld goal and cutting the lead to 13-10. However, the Browns’ following possession ended with the Eagles defense forcing a safety to take a 15-10 advantage. Philadelphia capitalized and scored once more on their next possession when Wentz conducted a nine-play, 73-yard scoring drive that fi nished with a 35-yard TD pass to WR Nelson Agholor. The Browns defense closed the third quarter with rookie DL Carl Nassib registering his fi rst NFL sack. The fi nal points of the game came late in the fourth quarter as Eagles’ RB Ryan Mathews punched in a 1-yard TD run with just over a minute remaining in the game.

RAVENS 25BROWNS 20

Sept. 18, 2016FirstEnergy Stadium, Cleveland, Ohio

Despite a fi rst quarter lead, the Ravens rallied back to defeat the Cleveland Browns, 25-20. The Browns started the game fast as QB Josh McCown led a nine-play, 75-yard opening drive that culminated in a 31-yard TD pass to rookie WR Corey Coleman, giving Cleveland a 7-0 advantage. After forcing a Baltimore punt, RB Isaiah Crowell broke free on the fi rst play for an 85-yard TD rush on the Browns next possession. Cleveland extended its lead after an INT by DB Joe Haden – his fi rst of two INTs in the game – gave the Browns the ball back in Ravens territory. McCown connected with Coleman once more for a 27-yard TD. The Browns could not convert on the ensuing PAT as K Patrick Murray’s attempt was blocked and returned by the Ravens for the defensive two-point conversion, leaving Cleveland with a 20-2 advantage with just over four minutes remaining in the fi rst quarter. Late in the second quarter, Ravens’ QB Joe Flacco marched Baltimore down the fi eld with a six-play, 75-yard scoring drive that ended with a 7-yard TD pass to WR Mike Wallace. After an interception by S Eric Weddle, Baltimore was able to score before the half as K Justin Tucker converted on a 52-yard fi eld goal attempt as time expired, cutting the Cleveland lead to 20-12. The Ravens got out to a fast start in the third quarter as Flacco led a six-play, 75-yard TD drive to start the second half, connecting with Wallace yet again on a 17-yard TD pass that left Baltimore trailing 19-20. The fi nal points of the game came in the fourth quarter as Tucker converted two more fi eld goal attempts – the fi rst from 49 yards away, and the second from 41 yards away to give the Ravens a 25-20 advantage. Despite a late push from the Browns offense, an INT by Baltimore LB C.J. Mosley with just 13 seconds remaining in the contest sealed the victory.

In the fourth quarter, the Dolphins stretched their margin when Tannehill found RB Damien Williams on a 10-yard TD pass, giving Miami a 24-13 edge. Cleveland responded, as WR Terrelle Pryor Sr. capped off a nine-play, 83-yard drive with a 3-yard TD rush. Kessler found TE Gary Barnidge on the ensuing two-point conversion attempt, cutting the lead to just three. The Browns were able to deadlock the contest at 24 with just over three minutes remaining in the fourth quarter as Parkey connected on his third fi eld goal of the game, this time from 38 yards away. After a strip-sack by LB Corey Lemonier, Cleveland had a chance to win the game as time expired in the fourth quarter but could not convert a 46-yard fi eld goal. In overtime, Landry set up the Dolphins’ game-winning TD with a 32-yard reception along the sideline. On the next play, Miami RB Jay Ajayi found the endzone on an 11-yard TD rush to secure the Dolphins victory.

Oct. 2, 2016FedExField, Landover, Md.

The Redskins pulled away from the Browns in the fourth quarter for a 31-20 victory at Fe-dExField. Washington initiated the game’s scoring as QB Kirk Cousins opened the day with a 12-play, 75-yard scoring drive, including an 8-yard TD pass to TE Jordan Reed. On their next possession, Cousins led the Redskins down the fi eld again, eventually capping off the eight-play, 80-yard drive with a 9-yard TD pass to Reed, giving Washington a 14-0 advantage. Cleveland cut into the Redskins’ lead in the second quarter with a 12-play, 81-yard drive cour-tesy of a 2-yard TD rush by RB Isaiah Crowell. Following an interception by DB Jamar Taylor, Cleveland evened the score at 14-14 when rookie QB Cody Kessler connected with WR Ter-relle Pryor Sr. on a 9-yard TD pass – Pryor’s fi rst career TD reception. Washington regained its edge later in the half when Redskins K Dustin Hopkins split the uprights on a 49-yard fi eld goal attempt, but K Cody Parkey tied the game up once more with a 51-yard fi eld goal as time expired in the second quarter. Cleveland gained its fi rst lead of the day on its opening possession of the third quarter when Parkey connected on another fi eld goal – this time from 45 yards away – to take a 20-17 advantage. Washington stole momentum as the fourth quarter began, however, and capitalized following three different Cleveland turnovers. After forcing a fumble, Cousins found RB Chris Thompson on a 5-yard TD pass, giving the Redskins a 24-20 edge. The Browns defense bounced back and managed to keep Washington out of the end zone after another fumble, but an interception by Redskins DB Josh Norman set up a 1-yard TD rush by Redskins RB Matt Jones, giving Washington a 31-20 lead to seal the game.

PATRIOTS 33BROWNS 13

Oct. 9, 2016FirstEnergy Stadium, Cleveland, Ohio

The New England Patriots defeated the Cleveland Browns, 33-13, at FirstEnergy Stadium. In his return from a four-game suspension, Patriots QB Tom Brady was effective and began his day by leading an eight-play, 80-yard TD drive, capped by a 1-yard RB LeGarrette Blount TD rush to gain a 7-0 advantage just under fi ve minutes into the fi rst quarter. The Browns answered quickly as rookie QB Cody Kessler responded with a nine-play, 75-yard TD drive of his own, including an 11-yard TD pass to WR Andrew Hawkins to even the game at 7-7. The Patriots soon regained their lead with another fi rst quarter score as Brady orchestrated an eight-play, 75-yard TD drive, fi nding TE Martellus Bennett on a 7-yard TD pass. On the Browns’ ensuing possession, a Kessler fumble on an incomplete backwards pass trickled out of the end zone for a Patriots safety, giving New England a 16-7 advantage. Early in the second quarter, Brady found Bennett in the end zone once again on a 5-yard TD pass to push the Patriots’ lead to 23-7. The Patriots opened the third quarter with another scoring drive, going 75 yards in just eight plays, including a third and fi nal Brady TD pass to Bennett – this time from 37-yards away – to garner a 30-7 advantage. In the fourth quarter, QB Charlie Whitehurst, who stepped in for Kessler following an injury late in the fi rst quarter, connected with TE Connor Hamlett on a 17-yard TD strike, marking Hamlett’s fi rst TD reception in his fi rst ever NFL game. Cleveland was unsuccessful on its ensuing two-point conversion attempt, leaving the Browns with a 30-13 defi cit. The fi nal points of the game came from the foot of Patriots K Stephen Gostkowski as he split the uprights on a 31-yard fi eld goal attempt, stretching New England’s lead to 33-13.

TITANS 28BROWNS 26

Oct. 16, 2016Nissan Stadium, Nashville, Tenn.

The Titans held on to defeat the Browns, 28-26, at Nissan Stadium. Titans QB Marcus Mariota got Tennessee off to a fast start with a scoring drive on the opening possession of the game, including a 41-yard rush by Mariota on the fi rst play from scrimmage and an 11-yard TD pass to WR Rishard Matthews to cap the drive just six plays later. The Browns were able to respond on their fi rst possession of the day as QB Cody Kessler got the Cleveland offense moving with a 43-yard completion to TE Gary Barnidge on Cleveland’s fi rst offensive play. Just four plays later, K Cody Parkey put the Browns on the board with a 45-yard fi eld goal, leaving Cleveland with a 7-3 defi cit midway through the fi rst quarter. Parkey would go on to split the uprights once more – this time from 37 yards away – to leave the Browns trailing just 7-6 as the fi rst quarter came to a close. Mariota extended the Titans’ lead early in the second quarter when he found WR Kendall Wright on a 48-yard TD strike to go up 14-6. Cleveland was once again able to pull within one point of the Titans late in the second quarter when Kessler capped an impressive nine-play, 94-yard drive with a 7-yard TD pass to WR Terrelle Pryor Sr., which left the Browns trailing 14-13 at the half. Titans RB DeMarco Murray scored the only points of the third quarter when he fi nished Tennessee’s seven-play, 70-yard drive with a 3-yard TD rush to garner a 21-13 advantage. In the fourth quarter, the Titans furthered the margin when Mariota ended a long 12-play, 80-yard drive that took up 6:59 with a 15-yard TD pass to TE Anthony Fasano. The Browns chipped away at the Tennessee lead on the ensuing drive, going 75-yards in 13 plays, including a Kessler 5-yard TD pass to Pryor. However, Kessler was unable to con-nect with a receiver on the two-point conversion attempt and the Browns trailed, 28-19. After WR Rashard Higgins recovered a Parkey onside kick, Cleveland found the end zone for the last time as RB Duke Johnson Jr. completed a nine-play, 62-yard drive with a 1-yard TD rush. Trailing 28-26, the Browns were not able to recover Parkey’s second onside kick attempt and the Titans held on for the victory.
