Full information can be found on our newly refreshed website www.oxfordschristmas.com. Our famous lantern parade will be returning from 6.30pm on Friday 17 th November. It follows the theme: The World in Oxford, for the best viewing spots head to the first floor of Westgate Oxford! We will also once again be hosting a festival stage in Gloucester Green, programmed by Dancin’ Oxford with a musical finale from Mr Wilson’s Second Liners. The weekend will also feature dozens of light installations, choral performances and free activities for everyone. This year we are delighted to bring you a threeday festival market in Broad Street. With a host of festive treats and stocking fillers our market will host more than 50 stalls running along the street, and even feature a beautiful Victorian Ferris Wheel. More than 20 cultural venues will be holding events across the City over the course of the Friday night and Saturday and Sunday daytimes. To enable us to put on this event safely, a small number of road closures will be in place over the weekend of which you will need to be aware of. This letter contains information regarding those road closures and parking suspensions, which will be in place in and around Broad Street and the City Centre. Please do note the road closure details on the back of this letter where you will see the different closures coming into effect at various times throughout the weekend. We have been working with Oxfordshire County Council and the emergency services developing plans to minimise the impact of this event on residents as much as possible. Should you have any concerns about noise levels, public safety or access requirements please do contact our control room on 07391 032 766. Please treat this number as you would the City Council’s out of hours service (always call 999 in an emergency). Should you have specific questions in advance of the event then please contact the City Council’s Contact Centre on 01865 249 811 or email [email protected]. For more information about the festival please visit www.oxfordschristmas.com We look forward to welcoming to you to one of the many events taking place over the weekend. With best wishes, Rachel Capell City Events Officer
