NEW ARRIVALS

Floki

Rescued 03 July 2015.

Our 3 year old granddaughter Yana rescued this

street pup. She couldn't bear the thought of him being

left with no one to love and care for him and said we

had to rescue him. He is now with us and Yana has

called him Floki.

Zarina

Rescued 10 July 2015

During a really bad thunderstorm and on his way to

Smolian, Rumen spotted a dog lying at the side of the

road. He thought the dog must belong to someone

but an hour or so later on his way back she was still

there. She was soaking wet through, cold, shivering,

and slightly timid. Rumen took her back to the

shelter, dried, fed and flea treated her. We cannot

believe how quickly Zarina has settled into life with us

at the shelter. She is a super friendly, happy girl and

we have already started her vaccinations.

Baloo & Rudo

Rescued 16 July 2015

On his way to the hospital, Tony spotted these two

young pups in a layby in the middle of nowhere.

There was no access to food or water. Both were a

little timid but had clearly been around humans. If

they were feral they would have run off.

The brothers have started their vaccinations and are

becoming typical happy, playful pups.

NEW ARRIVALS

Albert

Rescued 28 July 2015

Every day we are feeding and checking so many kittens

around the town. We just don't have room to take

them in, so that is all we can do for now. We spotted

this little one with a very bad eye but we were unable

to catch him but on the 28 July, we eventually did. Albert was taken to the vet where he underwent an

operation to remove the eye. He is recovering very

well and has turned into a wonderfully affectionate little

guy. He must have been in a lot of pain.

9 New Pups

Rescued 30 July 2015

Nine pups were living in a building down the road from

the house. We were completely full but couldn't leave

them where they were. We set up a space in the

garden for them where their mum could access them.

They all seem to be doing well and have all now been

named:

Booboo, Teddi, Dilys, Ayla, Ella, Brandy, Seb, Tilly and

Mocha.

RSDR NETHERLANDS NEWS

Lost and found – Nora’s second rescue story

Nora (RSDR Gabriella) and her owners recently

experienced some frightening days. In the morning of

30 July she escaped with leash and all in a park in

Purmerend, in the North of the Netherlands.

Nora was only adopted in June 2015 from the shelter

in Rudozem. Because she was still quite scared in

unfamiliar situations, it was essential for her to be

found as soon as possible.

For two days Nora’s owners, family and volunteers

were searching for her. It was a search and rescue dog

named Billy, who used to be a street dog himself

(facebook: Billy vertelt –Van zwerf tot speurhond) who

found her location. However, Nora was hiding next to

a canal between the reeds. Because no one was able to

reach her, the fire department were called in to help

and managed to get her out of the reeds in the middle

of the night. Thanks to the dedication of Nora’s family

and the hard work of the volunteers, Billy and the fire

department, she could go home, have a good meal and

recover from her small ordeal.

. DOG OF THE MONTH

ARNOLD

Arnold is a seven-year-old, male. This lovely boy came to the shelter in September

2011. He turned up in Rudozem, where he was dumped after being caught and

castrated in another town. Kerry saw him one day and he followed her into the post

office, from then on he followed her whenever he saw her. He then started living

outside Kerry and Kostas apartment, barking all night to get their attention. This didn't

go down very well with neighbours so we brought him to the shelter where he would

be safe.

Arnold is a lovely, friendly boy who loves a fuss. He mixes well with the other dogs at

the shelter. He has been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.

If you think you could offer Arnold the forever home he so deserves, please complete

an adoption application on our website: www.streetdogrescue.com/adopt
