IntergovernmentalPanelonClimateChange(IPCC)reportpublishedinyear2007

stronglyconfirmedthatclimatechangeduetohumanactivitiesishappeningand

that itsconsequencesare likelytobeserious. Inthisarticlewewilltrytofigure

outtheabruptandirreversibleclimatechangesthatmayhappeninfuture.

Ourclimateisaverycomplexsystemofnaturalcyclesandsubcyclesthatinteractwitheachothertocreatea lifesupportingenvironment,aplacewheredifferent

lifeformscansustainandgrow.Thesecomplexsystemsdonotvaryinasmooth

anduniquemanner so its impacts aredifficult toextrapolate. Such is the case

withclimatechange.

Rapid disappearance of polar ice sheets and melting of glaciers dueto

globalwarming.

Increasingburdenonnaturalresourcesassociatedwithrapidurbanization,industrializationandeconomicdevelopment.

Significantlossofbiodiversityinecologicallyrichregions. Changes

in

wind

patterns,

affecting

extra

tropical

storm

tracks

and

temperaturepatterns.

Increasing burden from malnutrition, diarrhea, cardiorespiratory andinfectiousdiseases.

These findings strongly suggests that climate change is happening, and is

projectedto

increase

due

to

the

ongoing

and

increasing

rate

of

greenhouse

gases

emission into the atmosphere. Climate change and greenhouse gases in the

atmosphere have reached to a stagewhere consequences can not be avoided

evenifwestopemittinggreenhousegasesintotheatmosphere(zeroemission).

Weareleftwithonlytwochoices,eitherpreparetolivewiththechangedclimate

ortrytocontrolemissionofgreenhousegasesintoatmosphere.
